It'll be more like a lean-to but with a smaller door - not the full side open. so sort of a building, but VERY open. I'm putting it in the corner, and I was gonna just have it triangle shaped, but then hubby said to bring it out a few feet in the corners, so they have a little more room (and it isn't a sharp corner/lost space). So it'll actually like one of those flat top cut diamonds.

I may put some roosts in there, in case I run a few chickens in the duck pen, too

ya never know, I may need the roosts. The ducks and geese won't care about having roosts above their heads, they'll just use the floor anyway.

two sides are 8 foot, the two shorter sides are 4 foot, and the green area is just opening (about 5 foot wide) - no door on it at all.

There were some last week at Sano that had evidently escaped. They fly very good! I didn't know they flew that well. You could always get some as babies and have them pinioned, then they wouldn't be able to fly. I don't think they would fly away if they knew your place was home?

Yeah, I'd rather start with babies, not sure if I know how to properly trim their wings

You have had pet birds before, right? It would be the same as you would trim any other birds wings, just make sure you trim both the wings, so they can still fly, just not as good. Trim all the flight feathers off even with the other feathers.

well, I took your advice and just left the eggs in there (she has about 4 of them) and she is gathering them up and picking at stuff and putting it all around her like a "nest" sort of.

Maybe she was just laying another egg, am waiting to see if she stays - it's the wild colored one.

Never had to trim their wings, I had cage birds, never bothered with wing clipping. Biggest birds I had were the diamond doves, and they stayed in a 6 foot flight cage.

That is so neat!! I hope she sets them for you! I can't wait to seperate mine and get some broody buttons! I have been told that they don't gather them up until they are going to set them, but I don't know for sure. That is so cool!! If she does set them, you'll definitely have to post pics!

Definately - I'll need to seperate the boys out too, won't I? will they kill the babies?

Not neccessarily, do you know which one is her mate? Some people say the males will kill them, and some say they have males that even help the females set the eggs! If you know which male is her mate you could divide the tank they are in (like I have TOLD you to do!!

) and keep the male in with her. Then just watch him, and if he seems aggressive or whatever then move him. Might not want to divide it now, it could make her stop. Just watch them and see how they act.
