Checked that baby again - lightish bill, but very dark feet - might be my blue baby girl after all

How long before you could see veins on your call eggs? I have gotten into the habit of setting my eggs on Fridays, though that will have to stop soon. I only have 10 more spaces in my bator, and it will be filled. But I probably have some extras in the quail bator, I'll have to check

I have your buttons in the hatcher, along with some of Cris's silkies eggs. Then I have some more quail due on Thursday. Having those out of the bator will probably give me another 7 spaces open, though that's not much! I think most of the quail are due in less than a week though, so I'll have a lot of room then!! Maybe I'll be able to set more after all? Too bad those stinking ducks take so long to hatch!

I probably should set them on like Wednesdays or something, so they'll be itty-bitties when Friday rolls around? I won't have to smell them for too long that way!

Yeah, I just noticed it

It is already blue!!

I've never had a baby hatch out blue, exept those splash chicks last year, and most of them started off as mostly yellow! Congrats on the baby! Hope more hatch for you!

I would definitely think it had something to do with your temps. Calls aren't supposed to take that long? Hope this one is a girl too! Can you tell with all calls the sexes like that, or is it only on the blues?

I just checked the bator, and I have at least four more of the blue hens' eggs in there.

her eggs are bigger than the khaki girl's eggs - I hope I don't have a problem with the khaki hen's eggs hatching.

Oh, btw - my air cells in those are getting small - how small should they get before I worry ?

I've been keeping the humidity up to about 80 - 86 % on these, because I think the problem with these four (also) was low humidity. I had them in with chicken eggs - now I have all the waterfowl in one bator, so I can have higher humidity.


you said calls should take only 25 - 26 days? If so, then day 21 on the next batch is Thursday. (next after that is saturday) and I have chicken eggs going intot he hatcher wednesday

gonna be a full one.

Yeah, I have read on other sites 23 days, and most people on here say 26 days, so I would just stop turning around day 21ish, just to be sure.

What do you mean by 'my air cells in those are getting small'? What day are they on??

The humidity should be about 70% during incubation, and 85%+ for the hatch, if you can get it that high. A lot of people say they set theirs with chicken eggs with no problems, but I personally wouldn't risk it. I do have some set with chicken eggs right now, but the chicken eggs will be out before the ducks are halfway done.

And I think mine is worse! Right now I have button quail and silkies in the hatcher, due tomorrowish. Then I have some coturnix from a swap due on the 26th, then I have some cochin eggs due the 29th, some more quail eggs due the 30th, then ducks due the 10th, and again the 17th, and your calls are due the 14thish.

And I'll be setting some more ducks
