not a Virgo? hmmm.... Don't know much about Libras - dont recall anyone I know having been a Libra.

Now, FrChuck, when ya meet me, you'll notice right off I look rather "Whitebread"
wink.png

that's just my disguise...

I'm very quiet, and usually pretty easy to not notice.... Unless I know ya better - (or unless you've brought along some Jose') -
then you get to see the side of me most folks have to know me for years before they see

I've learned over the years that most people don't want to know about weirdness so I keep it under wraps (well, mostly - ask Shelley about my "Sewing Room"

muahahahahaha)

I think I must be the only Politically Conservative Voodoo Flingin' Woman in all of Kentucky (or maybe all of the south).

I need a T-shirt that says "ask me about the skulls in my closet" just to see what looks I'll get from folks at Save A Lot......

eta - I used to have a chicken foot hanging from my rear view mirror in my truck - had to switch it out for something more Kentucky Friendly

howdy all. so I have been thinking chicken breeds. I primarily want egg chickens, but wouldn't mind a dual purpose, ya know, one that is good for soup after the laying is done. i am not getting a roo, so no breeding. So, I really only want 4 chickens to start, so what do ya'll think about Wyandottes? Thinking 2 golden, 1 silver. Maybe subbing one golden for an EE if I can find one. Any suggestions? I am planning a 3x5 coop w/ a 24 sq ft fenced in run.

Funny story...
when I first moved here, our handyman who was finishing our house for us was sitting and having a break one day chatting with us. He tells me about the "church" down around the bend that is run by these two old sisters and they dance around and carry snakes and speak in tongues, etc...

I wanted to ask him which house the church was run from... but figured I'd better not

He seemed to think that was very odd behavior. The folks I used to hang with (while they were not of a Christian bent) did much the same thing when the spirit struck them

Heya, and welcome to the thread

Wyandottes get pretty good size, I love my Brahmas and my Dellie roo (I'm getting dellie pullets, soon).

The brahmas are big girls, and they are very outgoing and friendly.

Plymouth Rocks get to be good size, too, and Australorps, also.

I've never done a wyandotte from hatch to big, so I don't know how fast they mature. The australorps, it seems, jump in size one week from being chicks to big chickens. I had this one australorp that became so big I had to find it a new home. They have nice personalities, too.

My one wyandotte hen is sort of odd - nice enough, just odd (we named her Spazz).

My australorps and wyandotte lay a medium to large size egg, the brahmas and white rocks lay a large to HUGE egg.

good luck choosing

Is Chuck still on? He said they were planning on coming down the 1st or 2nd? Would be good to know which. That would make things a lot easier to get everyone rounded up for a meet and greet!

So far Meri and me are the only ones that said they would be there (well of course I'll[i/] be there, they have to get their geese from me!

)

So who else will be able to come and meet Chuck and Kelley (aka: FLOWERPOT) ??? Anyone? estpr13? ladrifter? BlueDog420?

Hey Meri, have you talked to Cindy lately? Is she back from vacation yet?

MERI!!! I was at your house the other day, and I didn't get any birdhouse gourd seeds!!

I can swap you a couple of seeds I got from the swap if you like: nest egg gourds
wink.png
I hope they do well, they are supposed to get about as big as a goose egg, and they are white

Oh yeah, I forgot I promised ya some gourd seeds.

I have two types of gourds to plant now
lau.gif
probably won't need the nest egg ones (but they sound cool.)
Then again =- those sound like something I can plant to climb the chicken run fencing and it won't tear it down, so yeah, bring em along next time I see ya.

Talked to Ford today - My truck is supposed to be done Friday (I hope) but if it rains, we won't go to Sano anyway - I hope it doesn't rain that day.

I have bushel gourds and nest eggs, so the bird houses will be just right

I have way too many seeds to plant. Probably 8 or 9 different types of canteloupe, and I don't even like canteloupe! I have 4 or 5 different types of watermelon, 6 or 7 different types of squash (at least!), not to mention the 'other' veggies! I have tomatoes started sitting on top of the freezer, and the garden isn't even plowed yet! These poor plants are 3-4" tall already!
th.gif
I think I've gone a bit overboard

Well, I'm off to bed. We have missed the bus for 3 days straight (counting last week), so I think I should probably not stay up too late! Night all!!
