Well, I suppose I ought to get going into town and get the prescrip filled and pay some bills

I hate driving hubby's car. When I went to the Ford dealer yesterday and saw my baby parked there I wanted to run up and hug it.
I've always had this odd relationship with my vehicles
lau.gif
I either love them or hate them - they aren't just cars or trucks or vans - they are sentient beings who either work with me, or against me.
I can tell when I get into a vehicle if it's gonna be one I'll like or not. First time I got into this truck it felt right - I love my truck.

::::big sigh::::: come on Friday!!!

seeya in a bit - better get going and get that stuff done before it starts to get nasty out again.

Cloverfield was one of those movies that looked really good in the previews, but kind of left you hanging once watching the movie. It was nothing like what I thought it was going to be! I think I've watched it once since I bought it. One of these days I'll get smart, and rent the darn things before I buy them, I would have a lot less if I stuck to that rule!

But we seriously have too many! Cris hardly ever watches any movies, and I seldom if ever do. I needed movies to watch when we lived in Florida and only had antenna. We still got like 20 channels or so, but there were times when there wasn't a thing on to watch! Now we have sattelite, and SpongeBob is on almost all the time, so Cris doesn't need movies anymore. I really would like to get rid of all my horror movies, I don't watch those at all. I am keeping 'The Others', 'The Skeleton Key', and "Poltergeist', but that's it. I don't watch The Grudge movies at all, Cris really liked that one. But now, in order for him to watch them, I have to watch them with, and The Grudge is just too scary for me!!

Not sure if I'm going or not - truck is worse than they thought - gonna cost more, but I just want it back. He said I could get a used rear end at a junkyard and have someone else put it in - but this truck is gonna last me awhile, I'd rather pay more now than buy a new truck in two years. I've done the "cheap repair" deals before - they never last very long.

So... right now I have about 25 chicken eggs in hatcher, 4 duck eggs (with 4 or 5 more to go in in two or three days) and I got two broodies sitting on eggs.

I really need to get out to the auction and sell some of the stuff I got here already

However, I'm not sure I want to stand around Liberty all day waiting for my turn to come up.

Craigslist was sort of a bust - I got two calls from people in Indiana (aint going there !

) and one guy who might buy a pair - if I can get them to Campbellesville next time I'm going to TSC. Which is whenever I get my truck back.

and my chicken run is flooded again

just got the dang thing dried out.

::::big sigh:::: gonna be a long week.

I got a call from the people at metzer's a little while ago. I guess the hatch for the pilgrims isn't going good this time, so either we need to wait for all of them until April 27th's hatch, or split the order, pay the small order fee twice so we can get the buffs now and the pilgrims later. That really stinks. You would think they would have known earlier, it's only 5 DAYS AWAY! I think they would have known like what? A few weeks ago? That they wouldn't have enough goslings? You would think!!

But on another lighter note, one of my tuxedo 'babies' is a girl!! We found our first egg today!
wee.gif
And they are only 5 weeks old, and just barely that! One male has been crowing for at least a week, and now at 5 weeks old we have our first egg!!

Oh, did I mention that my jumbo hen died? It was the one that had the vent prolapse the other day, after being egg-bound.

Oh, and the puppies killed Cris's ugly grey silkie rooster

If it's not one thing, it's another around here...

I guess I should chime in here I am in Rineyville Hardin County. I am new to this site and pretty new to chickens. I have 5 laying hens and 2 roos I'm not sure what kind they are they just came to me. One night my neighbor called and asked"want some chickens?" I said sure and spent the next three days building the coop and run. Before I finished a knock came at the door and they were here I got a hen and her six pullets for a buck each. After doing some reading here I decided to free range them a bit. They are on three days in the yard they love it I had no idea they would stick around. They go back into the coop without much fuss.

Heya and Welcome

I was scared the first time I free ranged my chickens - figured they wouldn't go back in, but every night they put themselves to bed.

I have some that I free range and some in a coop with a chicken run - mostly because the two roosters don't get along at all.

have recently added ducks and geese to my mix (oh, and quail).

I told hubby the next step would have to be peacocks

He said "Pass".

Nah, don't get peacocks, go bigger!! You need TURKEYS!!

I was scared to let mine free range when i got them too. I think I left them locked up in the pigeon's (now) coop for at least a month when I first got them! They were soooooooooooooo happy to be let out!!

I have since lost 3 of the original 6 that I bought. One of them was to hawks, one died a few weeks after I got her (left them locked up a bit too long

) and one was the recently departed Emma

I still have both my blue splash hens, and Gertie. Those were the first 6 I got. Of course, I didn't stick with 6 for long! I bought the red pyle mama with 15 chicks before I ever even let them out to free range!!
lau.gif
It wasn't long after I got her that I did let them start free ranging though, she was a mean mama, and wouldn't even let any of the others come down to eat!

My egg 'business' is almost to full swing!! Heck, what am I saying? It's not even at half swing yet!! I will be going nuts when it does get up to par! I sent 3 boxes of eggs out yesterday, and have 4 more boxes going out tomorrow!

But hey, that's good, I might not go too crazy before I get my school money!

Yeah, I need to get those other birds so I can raise them up for pure bred eggs and babies.

I'm working the coops so I can keep a few to raise to POL pullets, too. The ones I got at Day & Day may be kept for that purpose.

speaking of which, I got to get up early tomorrow to see if they get my Brahmas in!!!!
