Welcome. to KY BYC. I raised some Dellies for a Nephew and his wife. The hens were nice but the roos didn't like confinement and would fight among themselves. If you have room for them to roam they are nice.

Thanks for the info! I'm not 100% I want any roos right now...still trying to decide. My daughter is scared of chickens (one came down off it's roost in the barn onto her head) so I definitely need something docile.

x-posted in the traders thread...

My female Pekin just died.

There's a lot of sobbing going on around here. She got stuck and got too hot, and she just wouldn't perk up. My two year old is hysterically upset. We're looking for another female Pekin near the Lexington area, preferably a younger one to be a partner to our young male Pekin. She will be a pet duck, well loved and hand fed.

If you have one to give away or sell please let me know ASAP!

Andora, I am so sorry for your loss.

Hugs.

I was just wondering if any one knows of someone who raises blue orpingtons within an hour of Louisville. My family owns a cabin in Grayson County as well so that would be easy for me to make a trip to. I am not sure when my husband will be up for more chicks (maybe not until next spring) but I thought I'd ask just so I would know if those are a possibility. I think I am going to end up with 5 girls and I'll have enough room for 8. I doubt I'll be able to just let those 3 possibilities just pass me by...

. Other breeds I was considering are silver and/or gold laced wyandottes. Any suggestions? (I know I could post this in the trader section but I didn't want people too far away. Plus I'd love to be able to actually visit the place I'll be buying them from.) Right now I live in Louisville but after we have children and outgrow this house we'll be looking to move somewhere in the country where we can have a huge flock, I'd like to test drive a few more different breeds before then and maybe even see some people's set ups in rl!!

I have buff cochins, partridge cochins, and silver laced cochins chicks for sale.. all bantams.
I have some nice white faced black spanish chicks that are old enough to sex that are bantams as well.
Two week old Jersey Giant chicks (black) that are ready to go too.
Will take $4 per chick or a deal if you want a bunch. Don't want to ship but I would for the right situation. I am in Central Ky. (Berea area)
I have some Black Silkie chicks that are $8 each. They are from show quality stock but they are only a few days old. Email me if interested.

Howdy all,

My name is Rob and I have a farm in Carter County, KY...just east of Morehead in East KY. We raise jacob, teeswater, and mule sheep. The sheep are guarded by 3 donkeys that have become pets. We also have several chickens both large and bantam, guineas, pheasants, and quail. Check out my new blog to see photos of the sheep. I will be adding new pictures at least once a week.

We are looking for a pair or trio of barred bantam cochins reasonably priced. They dont have to be show quality. They are just going to be pets.

Thanks,
Rob
