Well, I've had a busy day - first time I've had a chance to get online today.

Sis and I went shopping - but before that even, I was feeding chickies and duckies in the hatchig room, and checking eggs in the hatcher, and heard scratching in the other incubator. I had five baby quail running around under the turner (I forgot about the eggs - didn't think they would hatch) then as I was retrieving them, a button egg hatched. None of the other buttons have hatched, so I hope I get another one at least, but the button baby is in with the other quail babies - he likes hiding under them for warmth.

They are so tiny and cute!! So, I guess I'll keep the adults I have and try to hatch some more baby quail - now that I finally had some success. Oh,a nd I had 5/5 hatch

I am pleased.

Then sis and I went shopping in Bowling Green, went to Hobby Lobby - bought a bunch of dust catching stuff

mostly glass items - all their glass was on sale half off.

Then we went to Home Depot so I could buy a new dremel - my old reliable finally bit the dust (that thing was ancient - like a 70's model

I used it a LOT.)

Then, we went and got tattoos (been needing another tat

)

Came home, gathered eggs, fed babies outside (again) and fed babies inside (again) ate dinner (had a roast in the crock pot all day) and now I think I am done for the day, except going out to turn off coop lights.

sooo.... just gonna catch up on byc and go to bed, I think.

Got another busy day tomorrow - gonna have a spicey cajun crawdad and Jose' party.

Meri, sounds like a full and lovely day. What tattoo did you get?-- EDIT: It took me so long to upload the pictures you answered this question before I posted

I got my three extra chicks I've been itching for today. I couldn't find anyone who had a SLW, GLW and EE so I got a SLW and 2 EEs (at least I'll have more green eggs this way). They seem sooo tiny though that I am almost concerned they are bantams. I look at my 5 week olds and back at them and while I know my 5 weekers have grown a TON I still never remember them being THIS small. Hopefully they were because I can only have one coop and I'm not sure if my big girls would be nice to banties. I am hoping that in a month or so I might be able to incorporate the two groups if I do it right, we'll see.

ok, don't have a pic of the actual tat, but this is what I got... (will get a pic tomorrow, it turned out pretty well)

this was my other option... This one would definately be a leg tat - too big for the arm.

Well I have been very busy. Went to the Cookeville Auction over the weekend. Came home with some Mandarin Ducks, a pair of pheasants, some babies, and some pigeons. Then spent Sunday and Monday trying to get cages built for them all. Does anyone else have pheasants or pigeons?? I will have to remember exactly what kind of pheasants. I know have Kings, Rollers, Fantails and Mongolion Giant Pigeons. I just love them. And yes I will get pictures soon. But it will be a week. Got to work for a couple of days.

Boo hoo I am so sad somthing got into my coop and got 2 of my pellets. My daughter and I cried like babies I think it was a weasle cause there heads were gone. any Ideas on how to keep them away?

Should I bring my others in tonight?

..just wondering are there any holes in your coop for things to be able to come into , and is there a latch to keep your pop door locked as well.

Oh and if anyone is interested I have a few pullets for sale.

oh yeah we are all locked up. found a hole in the chicken wire this morning my hubby fixed it. prob. how whatever got in. I think I am gonna leave my dog out tonight to gaurd them she is good at that.

she is really good with the chickens.
