I was just looking, and saw a "gold brahma" it looks sort of like a cross between the gold brahma and a self blue cochin. it definately has reddish hackles - not dark red, more of a red wash. I'll get pics and it'll be easier to tell. but then, I don't know - maybe it is brassy - I'll have you check it out for me, and you can let me know. (I don't know much on colors, and didn't care if it was a recogniozed color or not, she is lovely.)

Oh, btw, Cindy agrees with me that the blue cochin bantam is a girl.

Well, I let everyone out together this morning and the games are on... You ought to see Union stretch her neck up and stand tall, she's walking all over like that, trying to look bigger I guess... She is determined to move up the totem pole and these new girls aren't going to take her spot. She is so funny. The only one NOT afraid to face off with BC is the Andalusian, but I think she isn't going to fight for that position, she backed down pretty quick from BC. Pnut Butter and one of the AMs was sparring when I left them... The other AM was smart and stayed in the food bowl, wasn't causing any ruckus, she was hungry... No blood let yet...Gonna have to watch the one that was bred the most though make sure no one pecks her... May put the saddle on her for a while, give her feathers a chance to grow back in.
I was impressed the Andalusian walked right onto my arm this morning off the perch and let me set her on the ground.

No problems, here, either - apparently I have so many birds that adding in two more wasn't even noticed

The two new girls were in the runs still after everyone else ran out this morning, so I went down to throw them some food (threw it out like scratch) I figure they'll make their way to the open doors before long today.

I've got food dishes in so many places, if someone is bullying somewhere, or if someone can't find one bowl, they'll find another one. So no worries any of them will go hungry not being able to get to the feed.

they've probably got too much feed, but I have the ducks and geese eating it, also, and ya know the ducks can put food away pretty quickly.

Three of the buff rocks are really shy - the other girl goes wherever everyone else goes. The roo and two girls are hiding in the woods every morning - in plain sight, but distanced from all the other chickens. I'll have to try catching them tonight and putting them into a coop, I guess, I was hoping they'd just integrate. I guess they feel really tiny compared to all those dual purpose birds running around.

Well, gonna go try to get some pics of the new girls, and chase the calves out back to pasture.

Ok, a few pics...

first - the new "what the heck?" colored hen - not agreat pic, but it gives you sort of an idea of her coloring. She is gorgeous in person.

The blue hen didn't want to be caught, so she ran when I came in with the camera

Poor pic of my cochin roo and one of his black girls - I have high hopes for this roo, he has good size, is getting very nice feathering, too.

the new deck between the trailers. The back trailer used to be Ghetto Brown

so we painted it white with green shutters to match the front one.

So, I'm sitting here at my PC and I can hear the egg song all the way in the house... Don't know if it's a delayed reaction from BC since I had to shoo her off the nest after she laid, because she was being stubborn(was on it the whole time I was out there, over an hour) and not letting the new girls in the boxes, so they're in the corner where BC used to lay. I ran BC out of the coop, put food n water in it and shut the hatch with the new girls inside so they can de-stress... Guess it could be one of them doing the song, since I've never heard BC do it before.

My new "what the heck?" colored cochin squatted for me today

I really gotta come up with a name for her - typing all that is too long

The blue hid in the woods with the columbian rocks most of the day, btu she came back out this afternoon to take a dirt bath in the pasture

. She'll get used to everyone sooner or later.

Oh, and I got a deck firepit today - it is pretty, we sat out there tonight playing with fire.

Our other firepit is good for large stuff (and burning brush in) but for a nice little fire, it is too big. I love the new pit, it has a slate table around it (with tiles, so it is a little colorful).

Now hubby just needs to build me those "stairs" for my deck garden (so I can have plants on dif levels). I'll have that huge deck settled in pretty soon - got lots of space to fill (but hopefully not crowd).

I'll be at the 31W Treasure Hunt yard sale in Cave City Friday..possibly Saturday if Friday goes well.

Should be fun..not sure how chicken sales will be, so I am taking some of my computer accessories also...power supplies, keyboards, mice...etc.

Mama Cookie blessed me with 15 new little "crumbs" the other day, and all of my other Muscovy girls are sitting again. I really love these ducks..they are some of the most entertaining animals on the planet...

I was gonna get some muscoveys awhile back - but then I had the probolem with the swedish drake and my call duck girls

so I figured a scovey is probably as big or bigger than a swedish, I'd better stick to little ducks.

They are pretty though, I've always liked muscoveys.
