Cindy- would this make you a chicken pusher??
Yeah and I'm lovin every minute of putting the temptation under peoples noses...
Especially Meri since she is just now getting hooked on the hatching craze
LOL I'm already bummed because it'll take 3 whole weeks to hatch one batch and I'd have to wait that long to get more eggs to put in. I did see some eggs I'd buy if I didn't have so many to put in there, now. I saved the link because she said she's done hatching for the year so will have more all winter to mail out.
Well, the bator is holding really well, I think I am ready to put eggs in (if the others ever arrive by mail... waiting is SO hard!!)
Temps have run (last 24 hours) between 99 - 101 and humidity has run between 42 - 47 but usually is sitting at 45 when I go to look (and I look often, not even any eggs in there, I'll be a basket case once I get eggs in there, LOL.)
Hey Shelley, ya didn't say (I don't think) what color standard cochin babies did ya get?
Well, we're definately getting pigs. We figure with the setup we have, we can fit 6 pigs in the corral. Not sureif we'll actually do that many, but we know a guy who knows pigs, so we're gonna talk to him first.
We're gonna try to put the cows out to pasture with the donkeys this time - maybe if we have more than one it won't go crazy and try to run through the fence. Actually, I think Stella would have been fine turned out once she got used to the place - she was mostly freaked by being brought here at night and not having Mama or her barn mates to hang with. Plus, instead of two strand wire we got three strand, now, so that is better, also.
So, if we get pigs, I won't be getting goats, but I've been thinking of waiting on the goats, anyway. Cows and pigs we can eat and sell - goats, well, it is more limited. And I'd have to milk every day - not sure I want to start that or not. The milk would be cool - but I know I'd be the only one to drink it - Jon and Sam won't even touch cows milk from the farm - if it doesn't come from the store they won't drink it.
They sure do like Stella meat, though, LOL. I haven't had meat that good in so long - I can't remember when. Even the hamburger is so lean it hardly has any grease to drain off.
I got me some diet coke today - ran out yesterday morning, so I haven't had any for like 24 hours!! it was hard but I survived, it sure does taste good, though. LOL I can give up just about anything except diet coke and cigarettes. Well, and Chickens
Hubby has the wood stove going and the cat is parked as close to it as she can get,
poor old thing, must feel really good to her.
Oh, funny thing of the day - Oreo, my chicken who is always coming onto the porch - today Lily (big white dog) was laying at the bottom of the steps, so Oreo climbed over her (scared the dog half to death) and just came on up anyway
You should have seen that dog once the chicken got over her and off onto the steps - the dog jumped up like a shot and ran out into the yard. She didn't dare move with the chicken on top of her - she was afraid of either getting yelled at or eaten by the chicken (she is such a wuss,
)
Lily is half yellow lab and half some sort of coon hound (red tick, I think - NOT a small dog) she's pretty, but a real sissy when it comes to the other animals here. Even the cat has her trained.
Well, gonna go read up on pigs.
Peace -
Meri
