Well, she's still alive this morning.

Hubby said not to do anything yet (it's our anniversary, I think he feels badly that my cat is dying on our anniversary and doesn't want me to remember the day that way).

I talked to Tony yesterday (he brought my first load of gravel

) and told him no more bottle babies til after Halloween - so I can have the ones now weaned and go to the Casey County auction without having that to worry about. He is buying some for himself, also, so it all works out ok.

phone call... be back later (It's my sister)

Hey MoJo, if we join your Republic of Chickenville, do we get weaned bottle babies as part of our ration?? Or is this going to be based upon the more independent system of self sufficency?? (is that spelled correctly)

Still no babies this morning.... Her plug is gone but no movement....

She's leading me on thinking I'm gonna be there when she pushes those little 2 pound pygmies out to love on.... the mean witch will have them while I'm at work.... Well, I showed her by locking her in a stall by herself to keep the others from bothering her during delivery....

Of course I gave her food, water, hay and treats this morning....

Meri..sorry to hear about your kitty. I can sure relate, having just lost my Mousie a couple weeks ago. They sure do tug at your heart.

The new kitty is a real nut case..guess it's been a long time since a baby kitty was around. I have pin holes all up and down my leg from her climbing up..lol!!
She most certainly can't replace Mousie, but she sure does fill the void.

I'm just wondering how many chickens everyones has and how much land do they get to free range on... (if you let them free range).

Cause my chickens must not think almost 3 acres is enough for them... three of them crossed the fence to our neighbors yard and sometimes they think they are going to cross the street to go to the field... when I see them doing this I yell here chick, chick and they come running back, I give them a cracker so they dont think I'm teasing them.

Free ranging birds, I have over 100 chickens, about 15 ducks, 15 guineas, and 2 geese. We have about 10 acres, but we are surrounded by government land. They normally stay in 'the yard' though, once in a while we'll see evidence of them having been in one of the fields on the government land, but not often. The ducks like to go to the creek that is on the government side though, but it's not far from our property line.

Just a quick update on Squeakers....

she still kept asking to go out today, so I finally let her go out. I figured if she was that determined to die on her own terms, then I would let her. She is nowhere to be found right now. Sam went out looking for her, once he found out that she left and didn't come back, but he didn't see any trace of her (I hope, seriously, that she does not choose to die under my house!!!)

It may be a cop out, or it may be the right thing to do, since she wanted to go off and hide somewhere so badly - but it is done. I mentioned to Sam about taking her in to have her put to sleep and he said he really would rather she died on her own terms, also. I think he feels better that way - so he doesn't have to think that I killed her

I talked to Jon (middle child) this morning, and told him to talk to Sam online if he could, to help him understand that it was just her time to go. I figured it'd be easier for Sam to take coming from his brother instead of Mom the Cat Killer. I think Jon helped by talking to him.

Poor Jon, he doesn't deal well with emotional stuff, and I was crying when I talked to him, I could tell he felt uncomfortable, but guilty for feeling that way. I let him off the hook and told him I understand he hates that so I wouldn't keep him long. He's a good kid.

I haven't talked to Adam to tell him yet.

Mojo-- Sometimes it is best to let them have their way... My brother's cat did the same thing.... He got in one of their cabinets and into a crawl space to hide and that's where they found him the next day gone.... Cats are a strange animal when they know it is their time to go... We had a few that had always been a bit standoffish and when it was nearing their time became VERY lovey and I knew they were saying good-bye....

OAN: No babies still!! I can't believe Ella is holding those babies in now that her plug is gone.... I'm gonna give her one more day locked up and then I'll turn her loose if she hasn't had them.... She's soooo pitiful being away from her first two babies that are 7 mths old now..... I tried to tell her that as soon as she has her babies she can be let out but I'm not sure she understood me...
YES, I talk to my animals... all of them.... It makes me feel better....

Got a question: We never had female dogs growing up and up until now none have been un-fixed... Someone dropped a rat terrier off on our road and she found her way to our home and hearts... She'd had a previous litter and went into heat and ran off a few times....

She doesn't look prego but she's now dripping some milk from her teats... Does this mean we're looking at puppies soon??? She's only about 10 pounds and doesn't look at all prego with a big belly but she is small.... we had to feed her high protien food to get her to gain some weight when we found her and now she looks healthy.... She's sleeping a lot too....
