Meri,

I know what you mean about All Hollow's Eve.... I'd go all out when we lived in VA in a residential neighborhood but now that we live in the country no-one can see the decorations so I don't bother.... I would not call myself a theologist but I do enjoy researching older religions and see how they correlate to the Catholic religion.. you would be surprised the number of pagan ideas there are.

Yeah, I like to study religions, and I even like to visit different churches - but one visit is usually enough to remind me why I don't go

- no offence to church goers intended, I'm just not much a of a "joiner" I guess.

I do love the pagentry of the Cathloic church, and I belonged to an Anglican church for awhile. I loved the Anglican priest, he was a hoot and I could discuss ANYTHING with him (even witchcraft, paganism, voodoo, nothing was out of line with this guy).

Oh, and I used to have this "Catholic store" up north that I frequented way too often for my pocketbook to recover

Funny story about my house decor - up north it was VERY voodoo-ish - to the point that hubby one day commented on how many skulls and crosses and "dollies" I had laying around... so I went totally the other way.

next day he came home from work and the house looked like a Medieval Catholic Church

I even had a chalice (it is beautiful, still have it, it is red glass and gold metal - sort of Holy Grail looking) and a loaf of earthy homemade bread on an altar with a crucifix on the altar with it.

he didn't say a word for a week.

he then asked me, finally to put it back to "Voodoo House" he liked that better

He said that with the "church look" he felt ashamed to cuss or fart in his own house

If the Medeval look would do that at my house I would consider it.... Hmmmm no foul language or smells.... oh man that would make my day.... I've got a 15y/o boy that thinks it is roling on the floor laughing funny to fart at the dinner table and stink everyone out.... What does that boy eat when I'm not looking....

We were doing Ren Faires for awhile there, so I had plenty of Medieval stuff - I even have a pair of greenman wall shelves (they are SO cool, but don't fit in here at the moment with the decor I have). I had artwork, accessories, the whole nine yards. Haven't been to a Ren Faire in a long time - I hear they have one here in KY, but just one.

eta - to make it all fit together, Hubby had picked out the drapes and carpeting to work with his "entertainment system" and huge screen TV - he picked wine red heavy velvet drapes and wine red carpet - so it REALLY looked like a medieval church in there

tell me about the smells and noises

I had three teenage boys and hubby at one point, I was outnumbered.

Luckily I can get just as nasty or worse than they can

so I could fight back.

I need help! I am desperately searching for a golden sebright hen for my hubby. I have a rooster, just need a hen or two, maybe three to get him all set up. I've found a few online, BUT they're about 3 hours away or farther. Anyone know where I can get one kinda sorta close?
I don't care to drive some, but 3 hours is just too much for me to do at the moment....

Hey all,

This past weekend I had to make a brooder pen for a stupid cornish hen who keeps getting confused as to which eggs she is setting on. I've had to throw away about two dozen eggs because of her.

At first she didn't like her new cage but she finally settled in and is setting on some of the eggs outside of the cardboard box where I put the current eggs. She now has access to food and water without other hens gettin in where she was setting. so who knows perhaps she will actually hatch something out.

Got to go to work. See ya'll

Cris has an upper respiratory infection, which I guess is sort of a good thing. At least it's not the flu. The bad part is that he is still running a low fever, so he gets to stay home again tomorrow

And to top it all off, I think he has managed to give me his infection in just a few days' time, I've had a headache for a while today, now I'm sneezing, my throat is getting scratchy. This has got to be the WORST time for me to get sick...it's finals week, then I have that sale in Liberty to get ready for...I need to go to that sale, I have way too many birds, and they've got to go. Thankfully my 'cages' aren't too difficult to make, they are just time-consuming. I should be able to get quite a few done tomorrow, after I rearrange birds again.

The baby guineas in the house are getting kicked out, but first the pullets on the porch need to be moved.

I think I might take some of these pullets to sale, but I'm not sure. They are still young, but I really don't want to feed them all winter! There are 26 in total, one of which is a rooster. All the rest look like pullets; white and brown leghorns, silver-laced or -penciled wyandottes (if there is such a thing), BA, 3 dominiques, and a buff orp. The little cockerel is a BA. I think we'll keep the BA, then probably 2 each of the others, that would get us 14 or 15 pullets and a roo, plenty, right?
