now I just have to clean it

Oh and I figured out whom my barn visitor is finally - ..... deep breath .....
I
have
!!!RATS!!!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! this does not make me a happy camper. I wouldn't have guessed rats (well, I was in denial, I guess) but tonight I actually saw one - not a huge one, but big enough to make me go "NOOOOO!!!!!!" (it was probably the size of my hand at least - not including the tail)
Gee, Shelley, do you think maybe that is why Cris couldn't see any duck eggs in that hole the other day? they were probably eaten before they cooled

And with the extra square baled hay in there, it is VERY inviting, I'm sure they're telegraphing all their rat buddies and telling them to come on down for the winter.
Looks like I'm gonna be on rat patrol trying to get rid of them. I'll have to teach Toby that rats are fair game - he'll help me get rid of them I hope.
now, if I could just get the possums to eat the rats, then I could trap the possums and bait the coyotes with them and then kill the coyotes.... Oh wait, I forgot the hawks - well, maybe they can lure the rats out into the open for the possums to get to.
I'd rather have a possum in there, actually, they move slower and don't run in packs.
I may have to get a barn cat, I guess. Hate to do it, but maybe hubby will agree to it, if it'll take care of the rats (do cats hunt rats? or just mice and smaller critters?)
man!!!! I hate rats!!
