COOL! did ya get him off the guy I mentioned? Or did someone else there have them?

Can't wait to see him.

No these were lined up for the sale...10 in a cage...I waited for someone else to buy the lot, then I got one of of them!!! Only $2, can't beat that!! He is pretty young too. He only has the stubs for spurs roght now, so that's good, if he does fight with my dutch, at least he won't be able to kill him to easily!!
You would not believe how many people were NOT there this week!! The woman with the veggies on the table wasn't even there! Someone said something about a festival in Casey Co.? Said that was probably where everyone was...

I better not get any roos, I still haven't found homes for those other three, and she seems to like my bantam cochin roo, Hoss, anyway, LOL. She is a weird bird.

I'm afraid I may have to either take those roos to Sano or just cull them - which is too bad, because they really are beautiful, but I can't have them free range and I don't have a spare coop forever. Besides they are miserable in the coop. Heck, I can't even give them away for free!!! You would think someone would take them just for eating or something.

I'm gonna try to get the slw pullet to hang with George - she still hasn't laid egg 1, and I think she is old enough. I think she was 19 weeks when I got her, and I've had her pretty much a month - so anytime now, I would think. Oh well, she is beautiful, even if she just wants to breed with Hoss - might make for interesting babies, LOL.

Hoss is getting green tail feathers, and some black flecks in his hackles, I want to take a pic to post on Breeds section to see if anyone knows if he might be a columbian mix or something. Or what color pattern he might be. Cindy has one, too, and they both are white, but have sort of buff hackles with black flecks, and I don't know if hers is getting the green tail feathers, too, or not.

Anyway, LOL I better pass on the roo - I got too many now.
Thanks, though, I appreciate you thinking of me.

Peace -
Meri

I have 3 adult guineas that have decided to sleep in the barn with the chickens so far. Only 2 that are still going to the tree. I guess the others decided it was too cold in the elements for them!!

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I asked many people at the sale what the dairy goats sold for. Well evidently I asked everyone that was selling, cuz noone would give me a straight answer!!! I checked last week and this... Only answers I got were 'they have been selling pretty good' and 'it varies'...So sorry, but they definitely do have dairy goats there. the goat part of the auction usually starts around 7ish though.

I think last fall when hubby and I first went there, they were selling pretty cheap, like 20 - 45 bucks per goat average.

I'm not sure if the market imporved since then or not, though, and I don't usually stay long enough for the goats selling.

Ya know, I think they have a huge consignment auction over in casey county a couple of times a year - maybe that is where they went.

I love going over to casey county - I get to go to Knolts, and eat lunch at Bread of Life - mmm they got great food.

That''s great he is so young, I have no idea how old George is - his spurs are BIG. I need to trim them, afraid to do it. They are starting to curl up, though, and that isn't good.

I would try taking them to Sano, if it were me, at least you might get something out of them!!

Yeah, that is my next move, I guess. I had a call today on the chickens <g> but he thought I had hens and pullets - he didn't want roos either, LOL.

I am wondering if I sell in the parking lot if it costs me anything to just set up on the back of my truck. hhmmmmm

Peace -

I just moved here from FL in may, but I lived here about 5 years ago for a few years, and idk if I've ever been to Casey county!! Not even sure I know where it is

So you need to buy more chicken stuff at TSC and Lowe's?

No you only have to pay commission if they auction them, that's why so many ppl set up on the drive. That way they don't lose any $ to the auctioneer, and they probably get more there than they would at the auction. I saw some beautiful mille fluer's there tonight, but I resisted. I have too many chickens already. And with 2 of my hens still setting, and dad's cochin that I also feed, who is also setting, I think I need to cut back first!! But I really wanted a game roo, game and dutch banty mix would be kinda weird! Oh btw, dad got the bright idea to let one of his SLW roos out of his run today...he said so that way the bigger hens would have a bigger roo to breed with...this is after he said I should stop incubating after the ones in there hatch (he doesn't know I bid on 12 duck eggs on ebay!!)...I finally convinced him to put it back...I told him it would breed with the little hens too...That roo is at least 3x's bigger than any banty that is running around!! That thing would kill my poor little hens!!...Oh yeah, and it really ticked me off that dad thought it was funny that his stupid roo had already beat up my blue splash dutch roo that I am trying so hard to protect!!! I need to go make sure that mine is on the roost, I worry about my babies...probably broke his little heart!
