LOL like he believes THAT will happen.

Every time he builds me one I say "well, looks like that'll hold me for awhile."

"a while" is usually about two months,

He is building me this one, I think because I told him I can grow our own meat chickens, and he wants me to. Plus, he likes to build stuff.

I can bet that when Shelley and her dad come out Monday that he'll drag them all over showig them everything we've done to the farm in the last year. He for sure wants to show off the progress on his pig corral.

It does look impressive, I admit.

I can't wait to get pigs - I've been combing Craigslist to look at them (haven't found many nearby, will probably get some at the livestock auction) But we won't be ready for pigs yet until probably closer to spring.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY EGGS ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

meri

Just be careful and DON'T DROP THEM!! In all your excitement!! Make sure you let them rest for a while before you do ANYTHING to them!! Just set them on the table for 6-8 hours, and DON'T TOUCH THEM!! Happy hatching!!

I'll have to look at the hens you have. I would need to figure out which roo to put them with. The porcelain one could probably go with my red pyles, but I'm not sure where I'm gonna put Emma, so I don't know about the other one. Gertie is gonna go with Charlie, I think, since she is supposedly part game. Not sure about her though. Like I said before, I really want to go into pure breeds. And I don't use the eggs for eating. Maybe I could use the hens I have that would not fit with others as brooders? That might work. Emma is a great mama. Gertie is not too bad, but she did leave her chicks awful early. Plus she would take them all over the place, especially in the pastures. That's why I lost so many. They would be out in the open once she left them, with no one to alert them to predators. The other hens keep their chicks near the house or the barn, or at least in the tall grass.

Oh, I know you'll be a sucker for chickens... just wait til ya see em

The procelain one I call Mini Pearl - she is pearl colored, very nice. I'd keep her, but like I said - I just got too many right now.

You saw my little OEGB pullet that runs around with the red pyles right? Does she look like her?

I am slowly naming my birds. I was thinking of calling the black dutch hen Gretta, but since I'm gonna let Cindy have her, I'll give that name to my OEG hen. That's a good mix, I'll have Charlie and Gretta, works good together!! I need to change my blue splash roo's name though. He is just called Big Poppa, not really a name. It's better than my hen's name though. Her's is actually 'Banana', Cris learned a new word off his fortune cookie one day!! Xiang Jiao is her name, not sure on the sp. I asked Cris what we were gonna call her, and that's what he said! Oh well, it works!

Can't remember, I may have a pic of her I'll go look.

Ok, this is the best pic I have of her, and it isn't that great. (the one facing you on the chicken ramp)
You can at least see her color, though. The other one (muffy) is darker, more colored like Emma.

She is about similar in color (very slightly darker) than my red pyle pullet.

She looks a lot like the pullet I have. When did you get a red pyle pullet??? I didn't think you had any! Is yours really light colored, or does she have color on her? Mine is just like the mama, kind of a cream color. No orange or red on her anywhere! I thought they were supposed to have some orange-ish colors around their necks.

I got mine at the auction when I got the red pyle roo (boo) and yeah, she is palish - no dark colors on her, more of a wash of redish on her hackle area, pretty, though.

I wouldn't mind finding some red pyle pullets - but they are hard to come by. I'm about to give up and just keep Wash (the washed out red pyle roo) and find him some similarly colored females, or maybe hook him up with your blue splash babies, and see what happens there.

I was gonna hook them up with Atticus, but he is still acting fluffy - not sure what is wrong wit him - everyone else seems fine and healthy.

I'm tempted to just cull him in case he has something contageous.

Edited cause I found a pic of the red pyle pullet

Yeah, my pullet and the other 2 that dissappeared along with the hen, had the same body coloring, but no color on their necks.
I was gonna sell most of my red pyle roos, if you want to get one with a bit more color.

But you have 2 red pyle roos, right? I've only seen the one with the messed up wing.

Wow! Someone with a name spelling like mine!! Oh, so I'm thinking you know what I go through!! There are people that don't use nicknames, that constantly call me Michelle. My name is not Michelle, but they don't seem to get it. I have personally never seen someone spell Shelly with an 'e' when it was a nickname!

Yeah, I been thinking after this batch of maybe looking at ebay eggs.

I need cochins. Can't live without them.

Meri

Marie Martin has a listing for bantam cochins, as well as silkie mixes, plus she'll throw some buttons in for a few $ more...only $13 for the eggs. You should get them, and save me some $$ on the buttons!!
