Sorry to hear about the guys. I have some of the same antibiotic, but haven't used it, I just have it for stock (just in case). This weird weather has affected my animals, too - Sassy (the horse) has been coughing all yesterday - not sure what that is about, but the donkeys had colds last week - they are all over them now, though.

I guess if I were gonna do the antibiotic thing (especially with respiratory stuff) I'd just treat the entire flock.

My birds were tickled pink this morning that the sun was shining and I could open the windows for them to get some sunshine and fresh air. No wind, no bitter cold....

Nah she'll get over it. The babies have been away too long to stay with her now anyway. She keeps trying to steal babies from the other two hens. Maybe when I put the brooder babies outside I'll stick her in with them. That would give her something to do. We need to do something for those babies. Some are at least 6 weeks old, and haven't even been weaned off the light! It should be interesting for sure.

Well, finally got to get online!!

My kid overslept this morning, so I had to take him to school, then I hit the new Walmart to check it out. I got some Christmas decorations (I know, it's WAY early, but I LOVE Christmas decorating,

) and some croissants and International Coffee - I figure I deserve a treat today

I got the prettiest Holy Family statue !! I'm a sucker for nativity scenes, I must have a dozen of them. This one is tall (maybe 18 inches), and has just the family, it is done in a pottery clay with glazing on part of it. I have one I got at a yard sale last summer I can't wait to put out, too - it is smaller, but done in Crystal glass.
Hubby would pitch a fit if he knew I spent money on Christamas decorations,

oh well.

I have the new one hidden in the sewing room - hubby will kill me if I start decorating for Christmas on Halloween

I also got another couple of ornaments for the tree. I pick those up all the time, and just change them out every year - last year my tree was done up totally in red and gold, looked very pretty. This year, who knows what it'll look like. One of the ornaments is a nativity

I also grabbed some of those suet cake holders for wild birds, I want to hang them in the coops to put treats into to keep em occupied when it's nasty out, and I stopped by Day & Day and had her order me some flock blocks.

We're supposed to go to Burkesville today to Freds. I need a couple of tarps, and well, I have a list, actually

Monday hubby is going to the livestock auction in Glasgow with Roger (hopefully I can go, depends on Jon's schedule) and he might bring me home some piggies (I want 4 - he said at least 2)!!! If not, I told him to look for a couple of cows (I'd like three of those, total)

Roger has a bigger trailer than us, so they can fit them all if he finds them. Roger said a couple weeks ago they had some calves that sold for 27 cents a pound!!! The feeder pigs averaged about 35 bucks each.

My kids think I'm nuts wanting cows and pigs - I told them they liked the meat from Stella, right? so shut up about my cows and pigs, LOL. I want this farm to start paying for itself, instead of me having to go find a job.

I still haven't cut Sam's hair, need to do that this weekend, I need to trim mine, too - was trying to brush it out last night after my shower and it kept going into nasty knots - time to hack the split ends off, I guess.

I can understand Sam being scared to get his hair cut. After it gets so long, you sort of cringe when ya cut it, LOL. But his is starting to be a problem too (it wouldn't be, if he'd keep it in a pony tail).

I think he grew it out, because his oldest brother had colored hair when he turned 13. Sam's hair doesn't do colors very well - and so he had to figure out somethign else,

Adam's hair has been blue, purple, green, blood red, hmm... I think that's it. My mom used to complain about him having weird hair, til I said to her - Well, if my only problem with him is his hair, then I'm awfully lucky. Most parents have WAY bigger problems with their teens than blue hair. She agreed, and shut up about it, after that.
Besides, I was such a weird mom, he'd have a hard time shocking me, or acting up in a way that would surprise me, LOL.

Wow, you sound like a friend of mine. He starts decorating for Christmas ON Halloween. It stays pretty consistent and by Thanksgiving, it's looking like a brothel (not saying you're that bad, but he's REALLY into it). Vintage ornaments, new decorations, the fake fireplace, it's all there. When he was living in Lexington, I was worried he'd have "anxious" guys knocking on his door because of all the red light glowing from his apartment windows at night. If you've seen the movie Poltergeist, it was about the intensity of that coming out of his windows.

Good luck with the auction! Pigs would be fun.

27 cents a pound??? Now I really wish I had some cash!!! That really sucks! They were probably bottle babies though right? I don't want any of those. I will probably get one or two older calves in the spring, so I don't have to feed them all winter.

There is a Fred's in Russell Springs, but I don't know if that's any closer to you. Good thing I decided not to come over today!

I don't even have any Christmas decorations yet. I am hoping I get my money before Christmas time, or I'll really be in trouble. It will definitely be close. Probably the middle of next month, I am hoping anyway.

Have fun with the haircuts! At least your boy is bigger. I get to fight with Cristian sometime this weekend to cut his hair. It is getting into his eyes, so it is definitely too long!!

I think the earliest that I've ever decorated is about 2 weeks before Christmas. My mom was one of those that did it the day after Thanksgiving, then took it down on New Year's day. I am not that predictable. I think mine was up last year till about the end of January! And it didn't go up till about a week at most before!

We had to go to Burkesville, anyway, cause we had to talk to a guy abut haying equipment. Looks like we're getting haying equipment. I tried to not have to, but getting anyone to do the hay on time (or at all) is next to impossible.

So, not a bad deal, though, the baler is in VERY good shape, the rake, is in pretty good shape, and the mower is in ok shape. All of it for 3700 bucks, so not a bad deal, I don't think. It's either get the equipment or buy hay this winter, (cause no one has cut ours yet) and then give half away next spring when everyone wants to cut it. Screw em, I'll do it myself, keep what I need and sell the rest. If they don't have time to do it now when I need it (and the hay isn't as good as in spring) then I wont have the hay to split with them next spring.

The latest I ever decorated was two weeks before Christmas,

I usually have it done by Thanksgiving.

When I was younger, and we got the real trees, mom and I would always go on my birthday to get the tree - it was part of my birthday, cause I loved it so much. So we had ours done in early december, back then.

But, I'm usually sick of it by Christmas, so I take it down Christmas night, or the next morning

Shug and Jr. decided it's getting cold enough at night, they went in the coop with the others

. Miss Celie still won't go, though.
Stoopid Old Biddy got stuck in the pig pen - couldn't figure out how to get out (she must have flown over the top to get in, then forgot.) I had to go in and chase her out.

She'd better not do that when the pigs get here, or she'll be pig dinner.

Spazz, as usual, refused to go in tonight, it was too nice out. Happily the neighbor kid came over to sell me candy,

so I had him help chase Spazz down the hill.

I got my sign done for the coop door. I bought one of those vinyl decals from Chickenzoo (I think that's her name) and I put it onto a piece of wood (painted), then polyurethaned over the top. In a couple of days it'll be dry enough to go up and I'll take pics.
I had her make me one that said "Mother Clucker's Hatchery" with a hen and a bunch of chicks on it.

Well, gonna cruise around on here, see if anything interesting is happening and if not, gonna go watch some TV.

Well, we took Cristian out begging tonight, and when we got home, I couldn't find my baby guineas. They hang out in the building all day long. The first night they were out, they roosted in the side with the bunnies. There is a lower roost there that none of the other birds use. Last night they were outside at roosting time, trying to figure out how to get into the pigeons' coop. I ran them into the tractor with the silkies.
So of course we got back after dark, and they are not in the building, or on the building, or anywhere near the building. And they are not in the silkie's tractor. Plus they are also not in any small tree around the building, or in the tree with the other guineas. So I really have no idea where they are. I guess I'll get to pen them back up, till they figure out what they are supposed to do.

That's if they're still around.

Cris did pretty good tonight, we had to quite early cause dad was griping too much. Next time we'll either have our own car, or ride with someone else. Or have him drop us off and come back later. He really ticked me off. Acted like it was such a chore, and all he was doing was sitting in the car. Like he had something better to do. Sit at home and watch TV, that's about it. Oh well...
