Kentucky people

I noticed they do have embdens if you were wanting those. It says they are the #1 meat goose in the coun try. Plus they are only $8.25, and the sexing is $1.25 extra. So they would be $10 each. I don't think that's bad. We are in zone 4 I believe, so the shipping would be less than $8 for 8 goslings.
I did try to call her, but there was no answer. I have been so busy lately that I haven't tried calling her back. I know she has the canadian, toulouse or pilgrim (not sure which), and I beleive she has african. You still have her number right? I'll pm you that if you don't.

Cool, I got the PM, too.

Well, I stopped at Wally World, and the geese (I'm assuming emdens) were avaerage of 46 bucks each. Much cheaper (or at least ya fork that out over time) to raise your own, I'm thinking.

Greyfields said the emdens are ready to butcher at like 10 weeks or so. I imagine you could keep them longer, they aren't as genetically messed with as Cornish Rocks, but they do grow fast.

I'm wondering if goslings would be better, than getting adult geese, because if you're keeping them for breeding, and they free range, you'll have that whole "getting used to the new home" period. Of course, if ya just want one to butcher, then an adult would be ok.

So, If I can talk hubby into it, then yeah, I'd like to order some goslings with ya in the spring. I'm thinking a pair of pilgrims to run around and breed, and maybe an emden for butchering. How many did you want? (if ya only want 4, then I'll take a goose and two hens pilgrims and one emden.)

That way, if you get buffs and I get pilgrims, we can swap eggs

I may call those other numbers, anyway, to see if they have any young geese, or goslings right now. (doubt they have any babies right now, but it's worth a shot.)

Yeah I was thinking about getting adults, but I would want babies so I can make sure they are tame. Nothing like getting your hiney bit by a mean goose!
I think metzer's minimum order is 8, and the ones I want have to be either pairs or straight run

But I could get another one if you only want 3. I just was wanting to use them since they do have the buffs, and they sex their goslings. My luck, if I got straight run, I would end up with most if not all boys!! But I would like to get two pair. They usually 'pair-up' for life, so that would work out good. I don't know if I would be able to get two female tufted and two male non-tufted. Maybe I'll just get all non, so I don't have to worry about any lethals. Cris is the one that likes those funny looking ones anyway, not me!

LOL...The bantams could be pure Jap, Jap mixed w/ Dutch, Dutch mixed colors BTB and Porcelain mix, Dutch mix w/Jap, or pure Millies. Did I give you lg eggs too? Don't remember how many I gave you. If so the lg brown ones are probably BR and the short fat ones are BRxWhite giant Cochin. Good luck and Happy Hatching!!!!

That is too cute!! And since they are all 4 different colors, you will be able to remember who is who! Plus they aren't 'sexed' names, except maybe for Mo

Cindy---Like an idiot I let dad put them under her without looking

He said there were 7 eggs, but now she has 8! Idk if they were all from you or what! Anyway, there are 4 bantam eggs and 4 large breed eggs, so we will see what we get! Gertie was acting a bit fussier than usual, so maybe she has figured out that they are hatching? I think I'll take the bantam chicks away from her. I might just take them all away, or leave her one. It is getting pretty cold. She did real good with her other chicks, but she left them really early. Either way, she will be in a cage, unless I decide to take them all from her. I'll see how she does. So it's not just the way I incubate them!! I have been telling people that bantams hatch at 19 days, not 21. These should hatch Thursday, and here it is Tuesday and there was a pip already. So ha!! I'm not as dumb as they thought

Oh and I would absolutely LOVE to go there to his house with you!!! I want sebastopols soooooooooooo bad!!
droolin.gif
But they are so expensive!

Meri---isn't it amazing how fast they get their flight feathers? They aren't even a week old yet, or just barely, and already that first on has almost all of it's primary wing feathers! So cool!

FrChuckW---Yeah, like Cindy said, we aren't picky, you could go too! As long as you aren't a serial killer!!
