Oh, that's too bad. That's why I vowed to not set anymore chickens eggs till spring. The ones I had in the house were the last ones I had that hatched and lived. I had 2 or 3 others either almost hatch, or hatch and die shortly after. I think the differences in the humidity and temps (maybe pressure?) are just too much in the winter. Or maybe I'm just not that good at it?

All I know is I'm tired of waiting for the eggs to hatch, just to watch them die. I have not had any trouble with quail so far, and we will see about ducks. I have 3 due in a few days, and 20 something more due in a few weeks. Hope they do better. But these birds (waterfowl and quail) are supposed to have higher humidity, so maybe that has something to do with it?

Did you see my list? I'm giving in to the little booger, but I'll get the colors I want!!

Flip is easy to catch, if ya come at him from the right side

- his top feathers cover that eye (hence the name "Flip" - he is always flipping his head to get it out of his face). I cut them back once, but they grew back pretty fast. Cris would love Flip, he could pick him right up and carry him around

Well these were the eggs I got mailed to me, so I don't know what to expect. Do I take the eggs out of the turner and place them on the wire screen?

I do, but you could leave them in the turner and just turn it off. OR, you could put them in an egg carton to hatch. People say this makes the incubator easier to clean, since most of the egg pieces stay in the cartons. There is a debate on whether or not hatching upright makes a difference. It is mostly just a matter of preference, IMO.

Oh, I love the buff silkies!! There were some at the auction we go to on Friday, either that or reds (thinking more like reds), they were all roos though, and I think the white ones I have are (rather were) 3 males and 3 females. Haven't figured out which one was killed by my dad's dog, though I think it was the smallest, which was a pullet I think. It's so hard to sex those guys! I have 3 mille fleur chicks from some eggs that cthrash1 gave me, they are so cute! But all chicks are cute, except those showgirls!

I didnt get to go. My sister came in. I wanted to go. My friend up the road went. He wanted some baby calves and maybe a couple of goats but they went for more than he wanted to spend. We went a couple of weeks ago and baby calves were just about given away. But I guess that was a fluke. I gues the next auction wont be until after the first of the year. Thats too bad because I have to work Friday nights through Feb 6. I will miss sooo much. But oh well I can go to London on Tuesday.
Well I am working today. Give out from yesterday. I cooked for my siblings and parents. I had a house full. I have Rock Band and the kids had a blast.
I better get back to work for now. I will be checking back in.
