Thanks for the heads up. This was a pair that I was going to buy from the poster originally, but because I had some financial things going on couldn't get them until after January 1rst. I was going to buy them from her for $120.00. When I told her that it would be after J1, she then offered them on the exhibition budgerigar group for $100.00, now I see that the opening bid was for $49.99 and now is up to $85.00. And she only bought them originally because she liked the colors, it was an impulse buy for her she said.

I fired off an email to her letting her know how I felt about the situation. Thanks again for the heads up.​

Well, if those cochins were pure colors for sure I might think about it. I have BBS frizzles in the bator, and would really like to stick with just those. I'd like to get some self blues, but if I do it would probably be just pullets. That way I have something pretty to look at, and don't need another pen!

The self blues are pretty. I don't need cochins right now (did I say that??

) but if I found some self blues, I'd be all over it.

I have enough bantam cochins to breed (once they start laying) and I have the giant cochins (roo and two hens - lucked out) to breed when they are old enough.

I need to get pics of those giant cochin babies - they are so big and fluffy!!!

eta - I also want columbian cochins, those are gorgeous!!!

Of the buttons, I have one I am pretty sure is a boy - two I believe are females, and one I don't know... what do you think Shelley? I know, bad pics, they freak out when I open the tank door.

The light blue one (aka silver) with the white on it's face is definitely a male. The brown one is a female, the other blue one is a female, and the brown and white one is a toss up. The only way to know for sure on that color is by vent sexing, but they are too young to tell(ETA: to tell that way). I have a couple of males that are the same color as the brown one, if you would want to trade that pretty splash back? Or I have 4 or 5 splashes, we could trade males for females or vice versa, once the splashes are old enough to tell. I have been told that buttons 'pair up', and at most you want 2 females to one male. If you have two pair, you could just divide the tank in half to get 'possibly' pure colors.

Oh btw, the brown one in the first pic looks like a normal wild.
ETA again: what color are the cochins? They look kind of like gold laced?

The cochins are just muddy mutt colors

I think they would be considered splashes, but they are orangish red, and black mixed in varying degrees. The one more orange hen is very pretty - the pics didn't turn out as nice as they look in person. The black and red female isn't that great, but she is sweet, and might make good babies. Her coloring is like a robin (bird) her breast is red and her back in mostly blackish. I despise robins

- they are mean yard birds, which is maybe why I don't like her as well. She is a nice baby, just her coloring turns me off.

I'll try to get better pics of the cochins tomorrow.
