No offence meant to you, Fr. Chuck, I'm sure it is appreciated that ya alerted Shelley, but...

sounds kind of expensive to me. Just because the parentage is show quality, doesn't guarantee the babies will be.
but then, Jose' has been my friend tonight, so My judgement may be a bit off

I wouldn't pay more than 25 bucks for shipped eggs, of any sort, especially this time of year. No guarantee they'll hatch at all after being in such cold.

maybe I should just shut up for now, though

Remind me not to tell you how much I spent on my ebay silkie eggs!

All Shelley wants is some self blue cochin bantams, I really don't care where they come from!

ETA: HeelerDawg said (s)he could get me some eggs or chicks this spring though, which I would still take!! I just want a few self blues to get my fix

Cindy, are you ordering from Ideal this year? Lexington is a bit far for me to drive to jump in on Andora's order, unless I have someone closer to get them for me! (hint, hint

Well I knew you wanted Cochin bantams, just forgot that it was self blues. Oh well can't blame a guy for trying to help.

I'm running a few tests on the incubator at the moment to see if it was a malfunction or something else that caused all those eggs to fail to hatch. I got one of those remote sensor thermometers to monitor the inside temp.

First Check after 2 hours was at 100.6
Second Check after four hours was at 101.9, removed the vent plug.
Third check after 6 hours 99.9, will see if it maintains that temp.

Good luck!! It's not that I 'only' want self blues, I have some frizzles from dipseydoodledoo in the bator right now, and those are BBS, I think. I just don't really want plain old black. Plus, I don't have enough left on my paypal atm, so that doesn't help either. Actually it's probably a good thing, since I would just want to spend it

I need to save it for my golden lakenvelders auction on ebay that I WILL win!!

Woohoo! Hey, they're still babies!

I have a grand total of 16 jumbo babies. One died in the shell after pipping, I think it was stuck. I was having problems with that bator too! So out of 21 eggs that did not get broken, I had 17 chicks!!

Great hatch - wish I'd get numbers that close

But, I'm still a newbie at it, and I've used mostly shipped eggs, so I'm hoping come spring I'll have better luck with my own eggs.

These were shipped eggs! Granted they only came from the other side of KY, but they were in the postal system for 2 days, and there were 4 broken when they got here!

WELL, let me tell you...When I brought Splat and the male and female Cochins home they were all 3 in the same cage for a few days soooo, Spitchens I believe. Or could still be pure Cochin but not sure.

Both are black w/black legs and whitish so far down the middle of their backs, one has black feathers on legs the other has sparse white and black feathers on the legs(very sparse). So hmmm...Dunno...
