He thinks he is so buff and flirts all the time...Has an eye for the bantam girlys...Probably because Raoul has claim on the big ones. He got to freerange for about an hour yesterday while I assembled that coop(waste of money it is so small). I laughed so hard. It was like he didn't know what to do first, eat bugs or explore

he was running everywhere.

Speaking of the new roo - I need to figure out where to put him

I'm not sure how it'll go over putting him right in with Speckles and the girls, in a smaller cell. If they had more room, that'd be different, more area to get away from each other.

I may have to move the babies back inside until I can free up some space out there, and put him into the baby cell. That way, too, they would be side by side and could look at each other for awhile before integrating.

hhmmmmmm

I can just imagine it. I know that Roscoe sort of ruled their roost, so Splat was second banana. Roscoe was more worried about FOOD than the girls when he was out freeranging, and the other bachelors all followed him. I figured once they got away from Roscoe they'd be more independant. Roscoe even chased the girls away one time, because he had snacks and wasn't gonna share HIS snacks!!! talk about a worthless roo

I would hope with more exposure to girls he'll come around, though.

if my Mottled ever begin mating, I can send ya some hatching eggs, if ya want. I have a pair of mottled, plus the black pullets I'll be adding, one black pullet I got from him last summer, and another black hen I got at auction.

I am hoping to get some blues out of the mix, too.

The one black hen had a mate who was a blue - beautiful roo, but he is gone

I don't know much about genetics, though, so I am hoping with mottled roo on black girls I may get some blues (even dark blues would be cool)

I'd love to find some self blues to throw into the mix, too, at some point.

I know it goes black/blue/splash
I wonder if Mottled might be considered among the splash?

Last summer at the auction I saw a crele pair, they were pretty, but I had already gotten the black/blue/splash trio, and hubby was along... so I had to pass on more birds

I gotta stop taking him with me when I go bird shopping.

The crele had to be pretty i love the crele its different from everything else!

He tried to tell me I didn't need the cochin bantam pullets, then I showed him on here where everyone wants bantam cochins, and he said ok

The Del roo he had no trouble with, he happened to come in when I got Bluedog's PM and I said maybe I ought to get that one, too, and he said YES!! buy it!!

My previous option to acquire another Del roo was to order 5 from Cackle and choose the best one - cost would have been the same, but they would have been chicks, and I'd have had to cull four of them.

Having one ready to go is much better than chicks.
