Kentucky people

Ours has had a bad leg since one of my BFFs kids did something to her as a baby. Holding her without asking.

stoopid kid eating bandwidth, had to reboot and unplug him....

Well, I finally got her to eat and drink happily. I put a puppy pad down in the dining room and put some food and water on that. She just hates being in the cage. She hasn't left the puppy pad, so far, though

She rode on my shoulder out to check for eggs earlier - I figured if she wanted to hop down and join the rest of them, she could, but she clung on for dear life.

I've got two whole bags of onions sliced and in the oven (I hate cutting onions). I'm making french onion soup for dinner tonight. mmmmmmmmmm

Well, Shelley, I suppose if I want babies from her, I could always bring in a roo as a house chicken, too

, maybe Hoss, he'd make a good house chicken, he's easy going, quiet, likes people.

I may have to change her name, though - pardon the pun, but "dumpling" is a mouthful every time I talk to her. I need a quick short nickname for her, something that rolls off the tongue. Maybe I should just call her MEEP since that is what sound she makes all the time

I'll come up with a good name that fits her eventually.

Hi guys,
Got my Privett hatchery price list today.www.privetthatchery.com
They sent a coupon worth $5.00 off on 50 lb. bag of anykind of Sunfresh recipe poultry feed actually there were 2 coupons in mine .
Kentucky chickens huh well I know that the Buckeyes were a breed started by a woman but they are Ohio chickens not ridge running chickens!

Ms. Lewis Rich :

WoW Meri.
What a beauty did you breed her she is nice, all my Cochins live indoors ya know why?
They are special!!!

I got her yesterday from Bluedog420 - she rode much of the way home on my lap, cause she cries if she can't see you or touch you or sit on you,
lau.gif
- she is quiet out there now, I think the dog is sitting with her keeping her company.

Last night she slept in my lap beside the cat as we watched TV. She woke and started to prune herself, then when she was done she pruned the cat a bit - the cat wasn't amused, but she didn't do much besides give her the stink eye.

She seems to be socially challenged when it comes to integrating with chickens, but she loves the cat, the dog, people, anyone besides chickens

She's a sweetie.

I still have to get pics of the others outside in the coop.

I'll do that later today. I'm gonna get offline and go watch some TV, see if anythign good is on - maybe Food Network has some chicken cooking shows me and the baby can watch

Ms. Lewis Rich :

You need to show her , can you give me a side view in the dog world we called it stacking .

She needs to re-grow some butt feathers, I think she got stepped on or picked at a bit. Her feathers are broken a bit on her hiney. This may be why she is put off by other chickens

The other two I got were also VERY pretty, a gold laced and a white.
I'm gonna put those two with Hoss, he's a cross between a white and a buff columbian - I am wondering if I could get a buff laced out that one hen.

I'll have to get pics of all the cochins once I get them all in the same pen. Last night I just stuck the newbies into the baby pen (8x8 cell in the lower coop).

My mottled roo is absolutely to die for - not quite the prize winner that Shelley's is, but he comes in a good second, I'd bet.

Oh, and yeah, Shelley, I forgot to answer the earlier post, I will be glad to exchange mottled eggs with ya, so we can blend the stock a bit.

Sorry gang, but Shady lane is not selling anything this year. They got wiped out by last summer's floods over there in Indiana. They are trying to rebuild their flocks and will have nothing for sale this year.

Oh yeah, meant to tell ya, I noticed it last night when I was unloading chickens.

At least if it's with me it is closer than Cindy's house
lau.gif

I'll get it over to ya soon, unless ya happen to come pick it up yourself. Let me know if you absolutely have to have it, otherwise, I'll just leave it in the truck, so I won't forget it next time I come over.

btw - baby chicken didn't care for Food Network, but she seems to like "Destroyed in Seconds" . She's been perched on the back of my chair watching and commenting periodically. When I had it on Food Network she turned her back on the TV and ignored me

She must not have like Giada's chicken sandwiches she was making.
