Hey Meri, don't forget to check under your broody in the next couple of days, might have a nice surprise. I don't have any pips yet but there was movement in one of the eggs I checked as I was refilling the sponges for humidity. The humidity is really great right now, hope it holds for the hatch.

Ms. Lewis Rich :

Cindy, I've got a blue laced red wyandotte Bantam egg hatching. They have only laid about 5 eggs . they are in with the Standard BLR and the Coppers I think they are traumatized. If its a hen I'll probly show it. We are going to seperate them this Spring and I should have some to share.
What kind of chickens did you end up with ? Meri's cochin is darling!

Good luck on the hatch...Poor girls, I thought you were going to get to move them already? I bet they look so small next to the LF.

Mine are actually due tomorrow, but most of the bunch you sent me other than a couple are being incubated by Meri's broody for me. I kept the two long odd shaped ones and a brown I think it is...I also have what was left of the eggs tazcat sent me. I have no pips yet but maybe tomorrow. My last hatch two of them hatched during the night of the due date.

I peeked under her today and she has gathered a LOT of eggs again

None were hatching yet (hope some of them do) I got one egg out of that coop today so obviously the other hens are laying in her nest. The egg I got was Jr's first egg - and it was funky

Little thin long thing, but I saw her sitting in the nest, so I know it is hers. I even got a pic of her sitting there

I didn't know if she would lay in the nest boxes or not, she is so wild. (Jr. is hatched out of my own flock from Shug and George - the only one I have that I hatched from my own hens.)

Those fat girls were so naughty today - Cinn was having fits out back, so I went to look, and the fat girls were over in the cow pasture out back (other side of a fence, other side of tree line, and NOT our property.) I tried to shoo them back, but gave up and went in and got treats - they came running back then

if I ever get them to stop laying under Miss Piggy (once she is done hatching) then I may try to hatch out a few from my own hens again.

I'll probably take some out of Mr. Speckles coop. I would do it now, since those aren't in the same coop, but with the decline in eggs from George's coop, I need them for selling to eat (my neighbors eat a LOT of eggs

) I only managed 4 dozen last week, and will probably not have even that many this week. They are laying - just laying under Miss Piggy, and I don't know how old they are or which ones have been under her to hatch (besides the marked ones).

I had a huge double yoker out of Mr. Speckle's girls last week.

I'll keep checking the hatching eggs, and let ya know if I have any babies come out soon.

Ms. Lewis Rich :

Cindy did you get your Jizzles? Or any of that guys Cochins.

Yes I did YAY! I also got a Buff Cochin bantam pullet, since I have a red male. and 2 black Japs and would have had a white Jap but she flew up in a tree.

Nice pictures Meri.
Well I lost one of the triplets today. I was sooo sleepy when I got home this morning I didnt go down to ensure that she nursed. So now she is gone. But I guess nature took its course. I kept thinking i just needed to bottlefeed her. Next time I have triplets one will be bottlefed.

thanks - and bummer about the baby. it always sucks when one of our babies dies.

I had a chick die - she wasn't "right" from when she hatched, but she held on for 6 weeks. She just wasn't meant to make it.

a friend of mine bottle fed a pigmy goat - kept it in his house

it slept with the dogs. The thing is so spoiled, now, it keeps trying to come inside all the time - it just wants it's warm bed back, I think.

He can't keep it in the pen, it climbs out - or jumps out, not sure which, but it always comes to the back slider doors to look in and cry at them. The pen fencing is 6 foot high, he figured for a pigmy goat, it would keep him in - wrong

OMG!! Will this rain ever stop??? I hope the chicks in the tractor aren't too hungry! I'm afraid to go and feed them, cause they'll probably come out! The rain has stopped for a bit, but it keeps coming back. Our yard looks like a swamp!

wow, that thunderstorm out there is cool - woke me up this morning, now it's just rumbling a little. Chickens had to have their treats in the garage cause it was raining

I lifted Miss Piggy, no peepage yet.

Mr. Speckles was losing his mind trying to get to Jose' this morning, so I closed the tarp - I hope with more women those two will get along once I integrate them. Mr. Speckles may have been underdog at his old home, but here he's had women for awhile, and he isn't gonna share them too freely

I had just fed them, though, so maybe he thought Jose' was gonna try to come and steal his girlie's food.

bad thing about the rain is I have to put out a hay bale for the donkeys today, and it makes the pasture muddy - might be interesting. It sure is warm, though. For January 2nd, I'll gladly take weather like this!!

The inside chicken (formerly known as Dumpling) is getting more brave. She was checking out the kitchen yesterday had to put her back in her cage while I ate dinner. She wasn't pleased. She's already crying to get out this morning, but I need to wake up first. Without a chicken diaper, I don't dare just let her wander at will.

I am thinking of turning off the furnace so it won't come on and just opening the front door to let some fresh air in for awhile. I really need to take down the Christmas Tree today, too.

so, that's my morning so far....
