I'm good for a couple more weeks.

Over and over and over!!! and tractor supply powder and med. baths, now I just ordered spray from strombergs using it now .
The mites get on her feathers and when you pull out an infected feather it seems like hundreds run off of it. None of the other birds seem to be bothered except her special needs boyfriend and I can keep them off of him most of the time. The shaft of the feather infected looks grey and just loaded with bugs!!!!Right now in the plastic molded swimming pool she lives in are once again clean shavings and I put a layer of DE powder made to put on dogs for fleas and ticks the food one is a joke.
I guess you can tell I'm freaking, this has been going on for months!!!
Now I will be calm, thanks for asking any help will be appreciated.

I have such a sick sense of humor sometimes...

It sure don't kill mites I have been pouring it on her for months the food quality they are just as frisky as ever. and I have to live with the dust even with the air purifers it is bad when it gets stired up. Thats why I just bought the spray, the powder from Tractor supply made for killing mites on chickens almost killed them After a week of using it those two were almost dead acted staggering around had to wash it off and the mites were still real healthy is there a strain of mites that never die?

I got some birds off a fellow this past weekend he uses tobacco scraps in his coops, his thought is the nicotine kill's most kind of bugs. I have never tried it but it mite work
hmm.png
Anybody round here tried it?

Awe Karen I'm sorry your poor Silkie is having a hard time...When my Belle got them in her topknot I didn't know about DE or even this site for that matter, and just used what I had on hand at the time which was VetRX(use it for leg mites too)...Don't know if it was just a fluke or what but it worked. Oiled my fingers up with it and rubbed it in down to the skin real good all up in her feathers down her neck, under her wings, etc...

This is just a thought but has anyone thought about using mayonnaise for mites on chickens. The one instance I had with my daughter I covered her head with mayonnaise to smother them out? It would be an all natural treatment. The bugs cant breath. I know it is really good for human hair too.

Ok if anyone plans on going to the ohio swap let me know. I know the exotic animal auction in TN is the 2nd weekend in March. I might try to go to it. I just dont know. I forget what it is called. There is no info online. Maybe a fellow byc from TN might know more.

I put it in my pigeon's nests. It does help to control the mites. I just regular pipe tobacco for the nests. Just mix it in with the straw in the nests.

Have you tried Sevin Dust on them? If push comes to shove you can always try Prell Shampoo on them, just make sure you rinse very thoroughly afterwards, let it sit on the bird for 2-3 minutes.

Prell is also good for killing stubborn fleas on dogs.

Ivomectin I have put that on her skin it is suppost to absorb and kill them have done that 3 times. I have the RX have tried that also.
I have a mutant strain.
She is beautiful when not snatched bald.
