News flash - It was a free for all folks...It was like a Saturday bundle opening back at the coops. Here comes Nutmeg as fast as she could go out of the duck pen mouse in mouth, closely pursued by Splat trying to get a nibble in but no way was Nutmeg giving in, so Splat heads back to the chicken run trying to find where Nutmeg got her little nugget...In the meantime Lucy found her one too and quickly hides in the corner so no one sees but was spotted by the sharpeye Splat, YES! Here's another chance...Lucy finds the perfect position to eat her mouse as Splat sticks his head through the fence at every angle possible trying to get a bite. The human walks into the duck run to check things out only to find another baby mouse, she slowly picks it up by it's tail(cause they are cold and slow ya know) and hollers for Splat and tosses it into the chicken run. Immediately Splat and Sheila grab the nugget at the same time and...Whats this? They each get half...Good sharing skills guys. Well as luck would have it the human found one more and tosses it over the fence like the last one, only this time everyone was chasing each other hoping to find another protein snack...Everyone that is except Anna, who takes no time to check this little furry chocolate bar out and immediately grabs it and heads to a secluded corner of the run where luckily no one was occupying at the time. BEEP buzzer sounds...Bundle opening is now closed.

Layne and I were rolling laughing at the frenzy these chickens were in today. What happened was I was cleaning out the ducks doghouse, because Meri said they can eat litter and die so I thought I better get the litter out, even though it was now compacted mud. But anyway I removed the bottom of the doghouse so Layne could drag it over to the burn pile and dump it and I left the gate open to the duck run. Well everyone and their brother decided to go check out the waddlers, in the meantime Nutmeg found the motherload and started the free for all. There was a nest under the bottom of the doghouse. I was just going in to check out what she had and out she flew with the mouse. I had to chase the Guinea butt out of the duck run because he was attacking the blue drake(not cool). Everyone else got to stay while I investigated. It was so funny, wish I had the camera at the time.

The A&M eggs I had before (from ebay) were about the same size as the eggs my pharoah hen lays. The birds full grown weren't much bigger than my pharoahs either. It will be good to get some big ones, the way they are supposed to be.

How big are your adults? I have heard they are supposed to be around a pound, but I haven't seen one (A&M or jumbo) that was the size it was supposed to be.

You know, mice are real easy to raise, maybe you should get you a couple of breeder pairs just to feed the chickens the babies? As fast as they reproduce, they would be more cost effective than buying crickets or mealworms!

I would have loved to see that!! If mine have found mice at all, it has never been when I was around! But then, the rodents do like to hang out in the building, and the chickens don't, so maybe they haven't found any? I don't think they eat rats anyway!

Yeah, that was our excitement for the day. No telling how many they'd find if I let them loose in the feed closet. I see one about once a week run through as I am feeding. They haven't gotten into the extra bags yet though as far as I know so thats good and they can't get into the cans...They probably live off the grain I drop of the scoop.

Got enough mice in the house right now to feed the whole flock seems...I swear they knew it was going to get cold and said"Hey lets run into Cindys house, it looks warm". We called war on them and went and bought mouse poison and strategically placed it through out the house. Then I set a couple of traps and already caught one. And they aren't afraid, they'll come out and visit you. Cortni caught one in her room and set it free, where? Right outside the front porch(real smart). She said oh it ran over around the side of the house and I told her thats because the cable hole is probably open and it knows it. Probably got back in before she did. We plugged the cable hole that runs into her closet since it wasn't used anymore with foam insulation but they must've chewed through it so gonna have to get some steel wool.

Cindy I am going to be setting some Serama eggs either to day or Fri. Some are on the way in the mail and some are mine I think I saw special needs Roo get frisky .
Sooo we will both have some babs I hope, Fr, Tuck also. They are the cutiest babies alive and very addictive.
I caught my mouse 2 nites ago he has been stealing the bait out of traps for months. I used butter , I hate that mouse.

So with no further adieu....I give you Peaches and Cream!!

Of course, Cindy can name them whatever she wants, but I thought this was pretty fitting!! These are the only chicks to hatch from my order of frizzles eggs from DDD. These are the serama freebies she put in

I'm thinking my temps were higher than I thought, since the seramas hatched just fine. Only one frizzle made it to the hatcher, and it zipped almost the whole shell and died

I'm going to have more chickies than I can count, Silkies, Cochins, Orps, Seramas, Mille Fluers, RIR, Gotta move to the farm! LOL

Dang it's cold!!!!!! I've got three layers of clothes on and I'm still cold!

Awe they are so cute and their names are going to stick too...Perfect.
