Kentucky people

I don't remember how many were in the bottle I bought, but it was only $3 and something. I know it was 100 pills at least. I'm too lazy to get up right now! A lot of people around here that I've talked to say they just give their ducklings chick starter, I think if the one you have is 20% that would be fine by itself, other than the brewer's yeast. I was told to add a few pills a day to their feed. I doubt they eat all of it, since they like to make a mess with everything! The flock raiser when I got it the other day was 12.60 I believe, which is almost $1 cheaper than it was last time I got it!! If I didn't have baby chicks coming (

) I would have just gotten that. Other than the seramas, all my babies are big enough not to need it.

Oh, and I'll give you warning when dad is planning on taking the puppies to the auction. It 'should' be at least another 6 weeks, but knowing him he'll take them away as soon as they start eating dog food!

Last time I was in it was down to 11.90 - not sure if that was before or after you went in. (or maybe that was the Layena on sale at that price).

Yes, warn me about the puppies, so I can harden my heart before I go and rub puppy tummies

Mojo Chick'n :

hey Shelley did you see this??

looks like it might work.... (less messy duckling waterer)

It works, but it is still messy. Not as messy as the chick waterers, but my pekins are too big to have a big enough jug in there! I need one of those big gallon mayonaise jugs and just let them drink from the top.

I don't have a pic of the one that the babies are using, but I took the base of a chick waterer and used it. I have a small cup in the center for water, and I fill the base with the food. That way they don't have too much water to slop around, and most of the water they do mess up goes into their food. It works, but I have to fill the water a lot. If I had more room in the brooder I would put 2 or 3 of them in there like that, and that should hold them over.

I have a bunch of chick's hatching off in the next few day's...good Lord's willing

Well, despite the cold we went to the Shepherdsville stockyards. As CW said, there wasn't that much so early, but they did have Turkeys, Ducks, Chickens, Pigeons, Rabbits and other odds and ends.

Flowerpot got a pair of Muscovies, and I got a Trio of OEGB. However when I went to put them in the hutch, the roo got loose and I have been trying to catch him ever since. Boy that sucker can Fly! Hopefully he'll come back to his girls and not get caught by the neighborhood cats. He sure is a pretty roo.

They didn't have any blues or splashes there yesterday, maybe next time I go, they will.

I'm awake, I'm here (sorta) still wiping the gunk outta my eyes (pleasant mind pic for ya there

All the waterers were frozen this morning - thank goodness I only had one or two plastic ones to wrestle with - I switched to the rubber bins for everyone else when it got cold last time. I love those rubber bin feeders, just turn em over and smack em on the ground and the ice pops right out - ready to be re-filled.

I ended up going to bed way early last night, I was so tired, couldn't keep my eyes open. I managed to watch the end of The Outlaw Josey Wales, but after that I pooped out. I don't care much for Clint Eastwood westerns (the guys love em) but I like that one - that old Indian guy cracks me up. Although, he did direct one of my favorite movies (didn't star in it, but his daughter did) - but that one was not a western

so, here I sit, waking up... gonna cruise BYC a bit.

Yeah, all my waterers were frozen too. But the hose is frozen as well, so I just take some hot water out in a bucket, drop the waterers in it, pour some hot water on the frozen pans, and I'm good to go! Lucky my bottles on the quail and pigeon's waterers didn't crack. I forgot to empty them out. One of these days I'll remember to get some plastic bottles for them, so they won't break so easily!!

Dad had told me one day 'you know hot water freezes faster than cold water does' I was thinking yeah I know, I'm probably the one that told you that, but I told him 'well it doesn't when you are putting it on top of ICE!!' Duh!!

Hey people, I started a crazy quail egg swap in the other fowl forum. It's a good way to get different bloodlines and colors. We don't have too many people involved yet, but I'm sure we will!! I know there are more people on here that have quail, so check it out!
