Kentucky people

Well folks, looks like my chicken operation is devastated.

Somehow, I have brought CRD into my and my dad's flocks. Mine for sure, but dad has lost a hen from his too, so probably all the birds. That includes the pigeons and the guineas. Thank God I didn't get those turkeys, or that would be another $100 I'd be out of. The only ones that *I think* are safe are the quail and the babies in the brooders. Maybe some of the yard birds that don't 'mingle' with the other chickens, but I don't know for sure.

I don't know what I'm gonna do, since I was hoping to make some extra cash from the sale of hatching eggs. Can't do that now, cause CRD can be passed through the egg.

Anybody wanna buy some birds that don't show any symptoms yet? They might not have all gotten it yet!

I only get over there about once a year, every first weekend in August for the Family thing.

I usually just hang out here at home - don't get out much, except to the local auction or to take my kids here and there.

eta - you're welcome to come on over to the farm, if ya want to see my setup and check out the parent birds.

mojo, do you go to campbellsville much? i am 2.5 hours away from you, if we took the .5 off when i did come to get some chicks it would make it easier on the both of us. cause arent you like 30 minutes away from campbellsville?

course, i could meet you in columbia too, but i am more familiar with campbellsville..
but its totally up to you. im still trying to find a time i can get there, heh.

let me know when a good day for you is. Only restrictions I have, really, are my son's work schedule - I'm his wheels, so I have to make sure I get him to work on time.

i know how that is.
i have a question for you you might answer.
but concerning the chicks, i can get to you soon about a good time and date. i have school and everything, so yeah.

but for the question
ive got a black silkie and she has one chick with her.,bought her at an auction. she hasnt laid since i have had her, but if i put alot of corn and eggs from the other hens which are fertile in the nest, will she go and sit on them, or not? i dont know if the baby chick in there with her now will pay it any difference, or not.. input please?

will putting another birds eggs in her nest make her go broody??
