Kentucky people

Ok, these two were born earlier this week (sunday/monday).

It is subtle, but easier in person - the pics make it harder to tell....

Yeah, I'll be there - maybe I'll bring 50 of the chicks,in case someone wants 15 or so, then I'll still have sets of 10 to sell also.

Plus - at Liberty you'll have to pay the comission. That's why I'm going to sano - try to sell what I can there.

Yeah, that's true, but there are a lot more people at the Liberty sale. You would not believe how much certain birds went for!! A pair of silver sebrights sold for over $60!!! Unbelievable! I'll have to get there real early to get mine lined up, otherwise it will be all day before they sell, and they wouldn't bring jack. I guess I need to go lock them up, and figure it out tomorrow. All I need to do is open the door of their tractor with a cage by the door, and they will all come flooding out into the cage. At least that's the plan!

Dad is such a dork sometimes. He keeps trying to talk me into keeping some of the pullets. Why?? They are bantams, and they are mixed breeds. They are basically worthless to me. He says because they're bantam, they would set eggs. I have 3 incubators!! I don't need birds that will set eggs!! Besides, I have 2 game hens and 4 silkies, I have plenty of birds that will set! Not to mention all the bantams that I am keeping!

I had to take Gertie's chick away today. She wasn't hardly caring for it at all, and it's only 2-3 weeks old. I don't think I'll set her anymore. She never takes good care of her babies. Might take her to the sale too.

Miss Piggy won't get off the nest, even without eggs, so I stuck some eggs from the top coop under her today. Maybe she can hatch em out, and I'll let her keep them awhile. I only gave her about 5 eggs.

Fluffy and Gump are getting along good with BC (when BC is brave enough to approach them

today we burned off the crap out in the area we're doing the waterfowl pen in (it looks nice) so we could move better. We're gonna put in a small coop out there - basically an open door/no window shelter they can go into to lay eggs or get out of the weather. It'll just be in the one corner of the pen. Fluffy and Gump kept coming over to pester me to pick them up and pet them

silly babies. I had to pick them up and toss em over the other side of the stairs to keep them away from the fire.

Gump dug up a worm and Fluffy stole it from her

Well, my Sano list is being revised. My 'darling'

son decided to let my chickens out of their tractor, so they get to stay another week. So I'll have

3 mille fleur cockerels (about 6 weeks old)
1 pair of BR (about 15 weeks old)
4 mixed breed bantams (between 4 and 5 months old)
6-8 jumbo coturnix males (about 4 weeks old)
a few chicks, some standard EE, some bantam EE, some OEG/red jungle fowl mixed

I think that's it, but might take my young pekin pair as well. Haven't decided for sure on that one yet. I'll also have some of Cris's toys that he doesn't play with anymore: a little touch leap pad by Leap Frog, a 'busy box' type thing for the car that plays music, a drum also by Leap Frog, and I think that's it, but not sure. I'm trying to talk him into taking some others which he would get the money from. Don't know how well that will work.

Yeah, Day&Day gets their bantams this Thursday, so I'm sure he'll want a couple of silkies!! Hope they have a color we don't! Right now we have 5 white (1 r, 4 h), 1 grey (r), 1 black (p), 1 cuckoo (baby), and 1 buff (baby).

I hope they get some light brahmas monday!! Can't get any from a hatchery til at least end of May!! I didn't order them, just called to see when I might get em if I did order.

I ended up putting that olive egger pullet in with the "for sale" ducks, cause she was losing her mind trying to figure out where to go to sleep. She wanted back into the coop with Mr. Speckles - but she had been in a cage in there, and when I put her in there loose, they attacked her. She didn't want to go into George's coop, so I figured the best place was in the lowest coop. Stoop!d red chicken.

Did I mention we're gonna build a shelter into the waterfowl pen? I figure that way I don't lose my coops to ducks and geese. It's just gonna be a simple one, no windows, cause it'll have a 5 foot wide open door and it'll be mostly in the shade (and they probably won't use it much anyway). It's hard to explain the shape of it, so I'll just have to take pics when it's done.
