Kentucky people

I didn't think Mt. Healthy had Columbian Rocks - maybe they got them from a different person (local hatch). I love the columbian patterning.

I didn't go to Day & Day this time - I figured I have plenty of chicks, and ordered my Brahmas, so I didn't need to go (although I do need to go soon to get feed again).

Can't wait to go to Sano tonight - it is nasty out there, but I got to go anyway.

I'm planning to take a bunch of chicks out - anything I know for sure I don't want, and sticking a buck a piece on them, and the older ones 2 bucks each - and the ducks (might take 4 bucks each on those, I need to get rid of them).

I'll wait to take the hens I plan to get rid of for now - I'll have my hands (and truck) full with just those ducks.

I'm glad I ordered those Brahmas.

You should be able to get at least $5 each on those ducks, that's what I got for mine at 6-8 weeks old.

Julie said the chicks were columbian rocks, amberlinks, golden comets, RIR, and buff cochins. Those are the only ones they got this time. I don't know where they got the columbians from, maybe Mt. Healthy just doesn't have them listed on their site? idk, but like I said, they probably won't stay anyway. Those birds are way to big for my operation! I might not even keep the cochins, depending on how big they get. Bertha doesn't eat as much as dad's standards though, so I might keep the cochins.

Yeah, I get the notices for it, never been yet.

Let us know if it's a big swap, or just a small one - not worth going if it's too small (ie: only three or four people with birds).

We expect a full report

I've been considering going - just have to convince hubby it's worth the drive (and the fee to set-up to sell).

yeah, I'll ask 5 bucks each, but if someone offers me 4 each, I'll take it at this point

Did they still have some columbian rocks left? Hmmm... might have to get up and hit Day & Day tomorrow morning (don't have time today).

eta - JEEEZZZZZ listen to me, I don't need more chicks!!!!

They had whole bunch of them yesterday, but the look just like the golden comets. So unless you got a whole bunch of them, it would be hard to tell which ones you are getting.

We, of course, missed the bantams again

Cris wanted more 'fluffy babies' (like we need those). Oh well, that's all right. We have the flock of 5 white ones, the one black girl from Cindy, then we have a buff baby, a cuckoo baby, 3 white babies, and 2 black babies. I don't think we need anymore 'fluffies'!!

The one little millie chick I got last week there doesn't look like it is going to make it. I have seen it a few times and thought it was dead already, but it is holding on. It's like it has failure to thrive or something, it doesn't look to have gotten any bigger. I'm going to take those 2 cockerels that are in the pen out back to the sale so I can put the 'babies' on the porch out there. Then the bigger babies inside will go out to the porch box, and the little babies inside can be divided up. I have 18 'big' babies in one box, and 30 little babies in the other.

Way too many little babies in that box, and the poor tiny millie keeps getting run over

Hopefully it will pull through.

Never seen a Golden Comet baby - are they yellow like the Buff Orps? or Yellow like the White Rocks? My mixed babies that get columbian look white (or VERY pale yellow) at hatch (some have a little black on them, but not much).

The babies I got at Day &Day, and the white rocks leftover, and some others I hatched are all stuck in the playpen - whcih was fine until they started to get bigger - they are cramped, which is why I have to go to Sano tonight even if I just take chicks out there and nothing else.

The last batch I got from Day & Day and the last batch I hatched before this one are in the water tank with Squishy. Squishy is getting big

.

The older chicks (minus Frodo - had to cull her) are in the top cage, and those 5 nasty creatures are in the bottom cage.

I will never do cornish cross again - those things are freaks of nature.
It disgusts me just looking at them. Suckers better taste good to make up for the ICK factor.

The newly hatched are in the baby brooder on top of the sewing machine. Newest baby duckie is still in the bator - looking better than the one that died the other day, but not out of the woods yet.

The golden comet and columbian rock babies are light yellow. They look exactly the same. The buff ones D&D has are buff cochins, the ones that have stripes on their backs are the amberlinks, and then there are RIR, everyone should know what those look like!

If you have that many, hubby shouldn't be able to tell that you have more in there, unless you get some different looking ones
