Mine aren't full fainting yet, just getting stiff hind legs right now. The guy we got them from said they don't start fully fainting until 5-6 months of age. I can't wait to watch them!! Believe it or not, the fainting is not supposed to hurt them at all....so hopefully no heart attacks!

Wonder how many guineas it would take to keep a few acres tick free?? Our indoor dog was outside for a few hours the other day and we had to pull atleast 9 ticks off of him....

I'd get at least 6 (depending on what a few acres is

).

I'd shoot for more females than males. Although, in my experience, both are about the same agression-wise towards your chickens.

My guineas were raised from keets with the chickens - they liked some of them, despised others of them - with no seeming rhyme or reason - so the ones they despised they attacked on a regular basis.

I got rid of all of my guineas. The chickens do almost as good a job at tick control as the guineas did.

Hmmm......maybe I don't need guineas at all, just more chickens than my original plan!

Looks like my little blue splash hen is starting to lay. However I'll have to pull her eggs if she is as she was with my OEGB Roo and I don't want to have her raising a bunch of Banty mutts. She is now in the pen with the Self-Blue pair, and he is already making advances towards her. Samson was not happy when I pulled her from his pen, he kept calling for her most of the morning. My OEGB hens hatched another chick today, at least they were defending it against the other birds this time. Both hens even charged after Samson the roo when he got to close to the baby.

It looks like the two older silkie babies, the black and the grey are both girls as well. Now if the four I got yesterday turn out to be girls as well, Shelley I'll have some nice blue babies to give to Chris by the end of summer.

Well the baby bunnies have started to open their eyes, they are 8 days old now. Mrs. Bugs is being a real good mommy to them, she is really taking good care of them.

Next week on my days off, I will be going over to the house that the guy on craigslist posted about the free siding and start getting that wood to put the siding on the loft and getting that finished so I can move the pigeons into their own space. Then I can get the stuff ready to build the enclosed coop for the chickens.

Was going to go to Shepherdsville tomorrow but with the crummy weather and I have to work, I'll wait on it for a while.

Well, my grades for the last block of classes has posted, and so far, after my first 'year' of college (I'm a sophomore now

), this is what it says:

Program GPA: 3.71

Am I good or what?

Let's just hope I can keep it up. One of my classes this block is human resource management, and I'm struggling a bit with this one. Keep your

This yard sale is in Adair County, close to Russell county line. I doubt she has any of those breeds, most of her breeds are mixed as well I'm sure. My dad has 2 SLW hens that he doesn't need, if you are interested in those. He sold both of his roos.

Shelley, congratulations on the grades! That is wonderful!! Also, about the SLW hens, I truly appreciate the offer. I tried to convince my husband (told him then we could be getting eggs NOW instead of 4-5 months from now) but he said since we have so few chickens he'd rather we raised them all from chicks. Oh well, I will probably have to wait two years and then get some chicks again.

Yeah, I love the farm fresh eggs - especially if you've been eating the store bought ones for awhile

Now that ought to convince him about the three or four barred rocks - shoot they don't take up much room
