201 Tress Shop Rd.
Elkton, Kentucky

On 68/80 just west of Russellville. Would be easier to just mapquest it rather than me trying to explain, I am bad with directions.

I am going to be the younger dude in the overalls, im tall so youll have to look up at me, and i'll be in a camoflauge mossy oak hat.

best bet is to get there early and get a seat, because it fills up fast.

hope to see ya there, if ya see me come on over and say hello. im bidder number 1398

I just posted this on managing your flock but thought I'd post it here with knowledgeable KY people.
I am hopefully getting my 6 week old chicks out in their coop today but before I do I was hoping to put down some food grade DE to control pests. I wanted to know if anyone knew where to get some in Kentucky or at least could point me to a good website with some info. I have looked on the Perma Guard site and the custommilling site but found nothing anywhere near me. Also, I am wondering how well it works. I have read great things about it, but has anyone had any negative experiences? Lowes website has a brand that is called: Safer

Brand
Diatomaceous Earth Ant & Crawling Insect Killer does anyone know for sure if that's the right kind or not?
As a side note, do you think it would keep the pests off my garden that keep eating my seedlings?

I just went to the Paris chicken swap and sold 17 chickens of various sizes and breds. I got there at 9:00am about an hour after it started and sold cheap. I didn't really want to go home with anything.
It was my first time going there and I will go again now that I know where it is.

Yesterday I processed my last two Cornish-Xs.

I've moved my dark cornish out to one of my coops and moved my Jersey 2 week olds into the big brooder. I think I am now down to 74 chickens. Still way too many but

Moonflowers. I bought my DE on line from somewhere. It was delivered by UPS. Got it fairly quickly. I cannot remember where (my chickens ate my receipt

). I'll look.

Bet you could haul a lot of chicks in that big rig. Would you consider it a Chick Magnet?

What kind of chickens do you have?

Ohhhhh. rats... I just saw some for sale at the Paris swap meet about 5 hours ago. I didn't ask about the price. I didn't need any. They looked nice tho. Oh and welcome to the KY BYC.

REALLY?! Do I know you?

and to answer all the questions:

Yes, my truck is a major chick magnet (LOL) and it will haul quite a few lol...

and I currently have Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, Golden Comets (Pullets) and some Barred Rock Chicks. I am selling out of the Comets and Reds though, tooo many breeds...gonna stick to Buffs and Rocks. Also raise Broad Breasted Bronze Turkeys. and I am wanting to get into some quail and look at releasing some onto my farm.

Welcome Nate! One of my friends teaches high school in Henry County and his parents are currently buying a house there (they already own an unused farm). I am trying to convince them to get chickens and take my BR roo for me since I won't be able to keep him.

Actually this is only his second year there. He teaches music, humanities, and theater. If you go see the high school's play next week he is in charge of that.
