What time do you plan on being there? I may just truck on out there and see what's happening. So far my broody silkies have hatched out 4 chicks, the other broody is still sitting on eggs. I have a couple of blacks, a couple of splashes, 1 buff and 2 whites. I am still looking for another buff pullet and maybe another black pullet and maybe another white pullet.

my duckies and geese put themselves in the pen tonight all by themselves!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!! I guess trying to chase them in earlier isn't gonna work

they must have their own timetable.

I didn't get to put them in at the usual time tonight, cause I had someone driving over from Scottsville for chickens, and I was waiting on them to come over. So while we were doing our business (about 7 o'clock-ish) the swedish went in, followed shortly by the geese. The call ducks went in a little later (maybe 15 minutes or so) so all I had to do was shut the gate and then go in afterwards (after the folks left) to lock Kronk in his jail for the night.

Sheesh, if someone had told me just to wait another half hour or so and they'd put themselves to bed, I would have done it, GLADLY!! chasing geese and ducks who do not want to go to bed is hard work

I certainly hope this is a habit from now on.

eta - Dave finally showed up for his eggs about 3 PM

Yeah, he would have been on time if I had hit snooze a couple of times.

Ethel loves her food, and I can get her to go anywhere if I'm carrying that little red scoop

The others like to be out on the grass, though, and will run around the upper coop multiple times if I am trying to get them to go in when they don't want to.

This morning I put the white babies and those four "goonie" ducklings out into the duck pen. I closed the gate so they have to stay in there, but I want them to get used to the duck pen so I can get them out of the chicken coop. After the initial freaking out, they seem to like it in there and settled right down.

What will happen when I put everyone else in for the night is anybody's guess.
