Make sure you wear something comfortable, I might con you into duck-wrangling here too! I really need to get rid of some drakes! I have 4 too many....

you know, Kronk and his girls would look really pretty on your pond.....

eta I been working on my net, maybe I'll have it fixed by then --- if I do I'll bring it along.

Oh yes!! Why didn't I think of that? 3 breeds isn't enough, let's add another!

ETA (response to Meri's ETA): If not, I do have some of that plastic garden fencing, that should do the trick! Just have to keep Cris away, he scares the crap out of those birds!

Right now, I have 19 large-breed ducks, counting the drakes that I really need to get rid of, and the young ones in the yard that I don't want to keep, but probably will end up doing so. So I don't really think I need anymore big ducks....Especially since my cayuga AND my rouen are both setting on eggs, of which I'm sure I'll NEVER be able to catch the babies....I need to downsize not add more!!

ETA: If I can catch these drakes (and 2 pekin ducks), I'll have a quad of pekins, a quad of rouens, and a trio of cayugas, not counting the 'could be pure or mixed' cayuga girls in the yard, so unless you have some cayugas, I don't think so

Yeah, my thoughts too - I need to downsize before winter anyway.
I'd rather keep my tiny ducks than the bigger ones - even if the big ones are beautiful.

Those white calls are gorgeous - a bit flighty, but maybe once their big buddies (the mutts) are gone they'll settle down a little.

I edited my post, but since it is on the other page, I'll repost it here....

so am I the only one awake yet?

I got woken up at about 6:30 by our neighbor dropping off parts for his tractor (hubby is working on the instrument panel for him) - and then I had just hit snooze the second time (around 9-ish) when the lady coming for chickens pulled in.

Guess I wasn't meant to sleep in today.

I stayed up way later than I planned cause after I got off here I worked on my net some more. I have it about half finished.

I got this old fishing net (the net part was all weathered and rotten - the frame was in great shape) at the second hand store for $2.50 - so I brought it home and started a new net on it, but haven't worked on it for a long time, decided to haul it out yesterday and got it half finished in between doing other stuff.

I didn't see a reason to spend 60+ bucks on a net to catch chickens. I'm usually strictly Ghetto here on tools such as that
lau.gif
I've made netted rattles and shekeres before, so I figured I could do a chicken catching net no problem.
lau.gif
at least with the chicken net I don't have to have a big gourd in the middle of it making it awkward.

Well, chores are done, need to feed myself, now.... gonna go find some food.

Well, we slept late today, even Cris did. It was almost 11 when we both woke up
th.gif
Then I had to feed everyone, and the phone co. guy got here to put a new line in right after we went outside. So had to deal with that. Then I called Cindy to see what is going on (not coming to my house today, that's a different trip I guess). And now I'm finally on here

Had another button hatch last night, one of them has spraddle leg. That sucks, it's so hard to fix baby button's legs!!

Ya know, even though I hardly see my kids when they're here - it is nice that they aren't here.
lau.gif

I don't have them coming over to find food, or taking massive amounts of pop over to their trailer. I dont have them eating up the bandwidth on the internet - hubby and I can eat when we want, what we want and not have to bother pleasing them.

Hate to say it, but I'm gonna be kind of bummed when they come home
lau.gif

OMG!! WOOHOO!!!!!

My "male" button quail that I hatched has developed a bit more patterning and has laid an egg!!!! I got a girlie
big_smile.png

She is very pretty, too - she's a silver, but her chest has sort of a speckled pattern to it, also. Faint, but definate speckles. I wonder if she's out of the wild female and silver male pairing?

Well, into the button pen she goes
big_smile.png
I had kept her out cause I already had two males in there - didn't want to add another. She's been teaching the newly hatched jumbos how to eat and drink for me, saves me having to mess with them much, and she is happy to hang out with them.
