Hello to all. I've just joined after trying to find out if anf how I should stop my hen from broodiness. I have 2 roosters, 7 hens, and 9 pullets. Running alittle short of space. I have in the works a PVC chicken tractor to add to the big coop and the semi-portable 12x12 pullet coop.
She was such a mom a hate to make her stop. I do have a few male pullets that I could eat eventually. But what I am thinking is to fence the creek bed area (where piker bushes grow) and have the chickens clean out that area this winter. I sell a few eggs to friends. But really I just love my chickens. The more the merrier.
I also have been gathering used fence, hog panel, wood... but they need to be kept in a cage cause of dogs and coyotes.
Any ideas on cheaply covering the top area of the coop? I have some hospital draw cutrains.
I am excited to learn my way around the website gather tried chicken works.
No computer at my house so I'm not on everyday.
Myself. I am from from Wausau, WI and have live in KY the last 15 years on 11 acres. Total goal.. self sustained, off the grid. I work, Radiation Therapist till then.
Keep up the good work and I hope to have a picture and signature soon. Christine
