Kentucky people

I actually don't have chickens, but hopefully in the fall we will be getting some. We aren't far from Whitley City. When we lived in California, I had ducks - geese - turkeys. But, we couldn't take them with us when we moved so they found new homes. May have all of them again one day but for now our focus is a tractor for chickens and prepping a pasture for pigs! What about you?
We have 6 chickens, 1 Golden Comet, 2 Americanas, 1 White Leghorn, 1 mixed bread Bantam and an Americana mixed Roo. We’re trying to finish our new coop, I’ll be posting an article on it when it is finished. Good luck with your pigs. We unfortunately don’t have the room for any other animals besides chickens. It would be nice to raise pigs for meat though.

I haven't owned chickens since I was 10, but I'm excited to get into it! I think we will try to start with 4 and see how things go. I love the coloring on Ameraucanas. Did you get your chickens locally? Let me know if you'd be interested in future pig shares and I can add you to our list.

They were a year old when we bought them I think they came from TSC originally. We started with 4 then rescued 15 chicks. We rehomed 13 of the chicks and kept 2. 3 of our original chickens were roosters so we sold them and bought the americanas and Golden Comet. The pig share is an interesting idea.

What kind of pigs are you wanting?

Not sure yet! We definitely want kunes, maybe looking at other options too.
I’ve got Juliana, kunekune, and Idaho pasture pigs may have IPP babies this fall but no kune babies until next year……I would recommend getting registered kunekune if you’re looking for breeders …..unfortunately there’s alot of mixed up and poor quality ones around. The IPP’s are good because they are breedable and grow out much faster than kunekune but they do root more mainly out of boredom

I'll have to look into IPPs!

I'm here in Winchester, KY. We've got several breeds of chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons and Bourbon Red Turkeys.
Also sell poultry supplies.

Hi Matt! I'm Jeanie and I'm between Irvine and Beattyville. We moved to KY from CO a year and a half ago. I'll be keeping your info for when we need supplies. We are fixing to build a new coop this weekend! We know very little about chickens and are learning as we go. We have 7 layers, but one's identifying as a rooster. 3 Marans, 3 Ameraucana, and one big red one I don't know what she is.

Beautiful area! I have family originally from that area and we visit that area for trail/adventure riding and camping as often as possible
