And check out Boos(blue AM) first egg!!!! Never thought she was going to lay... Thought the trip across country last July traumatized her too much but she pulled through...Beautiful deep blue next to one of the EEs eggs...Sorry about the shadow across the eggs I couldn't quite stay out of the lighting.

you getting any goose eggs?

No..and I'm not expecting any soon. She had an encounter with my flock guardian. He's still young enough to have accidents, but I never thought he would bother them. He got hold of Samantha and tore her up a bit. She will be ok I think, but the stress from that incident, I;m sure will slow down any thoughts she may have had of laying.

Oohhh no....sorry to hear that. We got a young Great Pyrenees 2 years ago and he kept rolling our pet rouens.....he had to go. I can't find a dog that will leave our free range birds alone so we got 2 barn kittens last fall. They sleep with the chickens that roost in the barn.

I got my chicks and they are adorable. I ordered fifteen and have lost two so far from the stress of the move. I hope thats it for them. I find it funny everytime I get more chickens things are great until they get older then I decide that I have too many and start trading out chickens.

Man I wonder if I am addicted or something.

I went to Tim and Susie's yesturday. I was very satisfied. I sold everything that I went out there with and came back with a few new chicks to add to my brooder. I ended up selling 5 Roos, 10 Splash Silkes and 12 mis colored silkies.

Hey thanks bantyhaven but I have 10 crowing roos and about three others not quite that old yet. Three older roos are for breeding and the rest are for eating. I will be taking care of two this week, and have enough roos for eating to last for the rest of the summer plus a freezer full that I origanally thought would be gone by now. (I am only eating about one every two weeks instead of one a week.) Between them and several older hens, which seem to have quit laying and are now elgible for the crock pot, I don't think that I will be hatching any out this year.

What kind of roos do you have? My last banty roo was my last bantam. I don't seem to have much luck with bantams because of the hawks. The hawks seem to leave the big chickens alone. That is why I went to big chickens instead of bantams. I got tired of having my heart broken. Bantams are just too small for eating so they ended up being pets.
