Kentucky people

F2F, that really stinks, I hope you and your dad filed a police report. Too bad the dogs didn't scare them off. I might be heading to the Shepherdsville swap this morning, I'll keep an eye out there if I do go.

Well I went to Sheperdsville this morning and wound up coming home with a Bantam Leghorn Roo (White) and a little black hen. However my big girls don't seem to like him too much at the moment, several of the hens are putting him in his place. I know I didn't have any roos as I've never heard any of the 14 crow. although there are a couple of hens that seem to think they are a roo. They are leaving the hen alone and just picking on the new roo.

There was also a guy there that had two chainsaws and a portable generator for sale, I didn't get much chance to talk to him. Lots of peafowl, several litters of pups, lots of chickens as well. Oh and baby bunnies.

hope everyone has a good easter

Good luck! The NLN is what I had to take...it's not easy, but I managed to pass it ok. What school are you going to?

Kygal, Maysville rowan campus (KCTCS) , I have to take the NLN but I just purchased a book to help me prepare for it. I am going to take as soon as I ace all the practice tests lol . It is the study guide that the NLN test company put out. Did u get easter geese? I am anxiously awaiting 6 Salmon Favorolles. Today is day 18 last turning day. The eggs are wiggling in the bator.. its funny that I can just stand there watching a wiggling egg in amazment! This is my first hatch. One of the eggs is twins any advise?

Awesome! I go to the Maysville campus. I'm finishing up anatomy and physiology this semester and am VERY happy about it! Nursing classes start this fall for me....so happy, excited and scared at the same time!!
I didn't get any easter geese...gonna give them another day or so before I give up on them! I love watching babies hatch! I've never had any twins, so I don't know anything about that. Happy Hatching!!!

So, do you have chicks yet? You will love the Faverolles! I have 6 that are six weeks old and they are beautiful. I have two Salmon cockerels (do you need one?), 2 White cockerels (or do you need one of these?) and 2 White pullets. I need to find homes for 2 of the cockerels - they are just too pretty to eat!

I have not successfully hatched twins - I had one in the batch that is in the incubator right now but it was a quitter early. I have 23 eggs due to hatch this Thursday.

thechickonthehill and Kygal= went on lock down yesterday so today is only day 19... no pips yet! I have 6 standard Fav eggs in and one is a twin. I think one of the eggs might be a late quiter (but not the twins) I wasnt 100 % sure about the quiter so I left it there to make certain.(I am new at this) . I see the twin egg shake once in a while like something is moving around in there. I see the same from the other 4. I am hoping that the twins pip on own but I know that it is unlikely that both ends will. I watched a video of 'needmorechickens' and saw what she did to get a good hatch from twins. I am very nervous being my first hatch and feel like I need duct taped to a chair to keep me from peering in the window every few minutes lol. I am having to watch humidity alot in this homemade bater. I am trying to keep it at 70% now and so if it dips below 64% I add a few drops of water through a tube on the side. other than that it is a waiting game to see what will happen. on pins and needles!

Keep us updated. It helps to watch other peoples' hatches while waiting on your own! Be sure to post pics in the April Hatch-A-Long. Sending good hatching vibes your way:

Now that I have given them the run of the yard they are dusting in several locations. They love the kids' old sandbox (not used anymore so poop OK). Plus they like to hang out in the shade under our older house, in the dry dust there. Once they zero in on a particular hole there i'll dose it with DE.

Boldy, my favorite, seems particularly hot. I haven't seen her with her wings completely folded in days.
