Anne, I live in Crestwood, good to see someone else on here from OC. There is a fellow that works at TSC in LaGrange that may be able to help you. I don't know his name but he is the "chicken king" of the store, just ask some of the folks that work there and they will point him out for you. He has alot of meat and egg chickens and I also think he sells them at the farmers market etc. Hope this helps!

Soooo glad you are going to do this again since I couldn't come to the first one. Maybe I'll actually be able to get over there this time - its only about 4 miles from my house!

Hello Kentuckians!

The lady in this thread just got chicks at the end of May, and her husband was building a bang-up (as in beautiful) coop for them when he passed away this passed Saturday (June 12).

Those of us reading the thread are hoping that there are some local byc-ers semi-nearby her that would be willing to get together and go and help. Maybe a "coop raising," as someone suggested.

I know i would if i were nearer-by.

What do y'all say?

Yes, thank god someone is posting this for her!!!!! KENTUCKIANS PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I am in La Grange also, but don't have the know-how to pull it off. I can do whatever you ask...minus heavy lifting. I can paint and drive a nail...but would have no idea what to do next to this great coop. If anyone else out there wants to pull something together, then drop me an email and we can , make something happen for this lady who has lost her hubby. Maybe KYbeagle can get the "chicken man" from TSC and he can help us out too

Maybe they might even donate some supplies or something...ya never know.

It is also good to see someone from this neck of the woods...as we are new here and dont really know anyone yet

When I tell folks that I want soy-free organic chickens they look at me like my head is on funny. It was a lot more common in FL...but this is soy country

...and corn too.

hugs, Anne

Dh is willing to help as well. I think we really just need some hammers and nails. The frame is up and most of the design of the structure is already in place. We need to coordinate a day. what is y'alls availability?

I'm so glad y'all are willing to help! I think we're also still waiting to hear from vickibiro to respond to our ideas. I don't think she has been on BYC since she posted yesterday morning.

But if y'all were able to tell her when a group of people had already arranged that they could come - that would be awesome - and encouraging to her.
