Last night I set 9 Bantam eggs under my first time broody hen. (My BLR from Foleys

) She has set tight since Sunday getting up only once a day for about 10 minutes to eat and get water. I am confused as to weather or not I should move her or let her hatch in the main coop then move them (fingers crossed) to a more secure place.

What is your advice on this guys? I didn't mean for her to stay broody, but I started a part time job and wasn't home to shoo her off the nest. Now that she is I thought I might as well take advantage of it.

Whimsy: Good Luck on the hatch

This works for me... I leave my broodies with my flock in the nest box they picked to go broody in. Then when they hatch their chicks I either move them to a penned off spot in the coop with nest box/food/water for alittle while or I move them to a small chicken tractor I have for awhile. I've got a Momma hen with my flock right now with her 3 (3 week old) chicks... everyones doing great, shes a great momma & nobody messes with her chickies.

If she is in a really bad spot (like on top of the wood pile) I just try to keep moving her or break her by putting her in a rabbit cage for a few days. Good luck!

The birds in the avatar are button or chinese blue-breasted quail. They are about the size of a parakeet.

Sunday I a traveling to Onedia KY for a mission trip with my church, I will be there till Thursday. Are any of you from around there? If so what is the weather going to be? I looked on computer and it looks like in the low 70's. WhooHoo better than the cold we had in Feb when I was there.

She is in a good place so I am not worried about that. So after they hatch should I move them, will the other birds hurt the chicks?
