Nothing better than letting the hen do the job! I have done both as far as moving/leaving. I have some hens that don't care if I move them, and a couple that it breaks them every time I tried. You may want to just leave her be till they hatch since you already put eggs under her. When mine go broody I put a couple fake eggs under her and then try to move her. If she stays then I switch out the fakes for real. If the move does not go well, then I try to secure where she wants to sit and leave her be. If she is in a really bad spot (like on top of the wood pile) I just try to keep moving her or break her by putting her in a rabbit cage for a few days. Good luck!

She is in a good place so I am not worried about that. So after they hatch should I move them, will the other birds hurt the chicks?

I would try to have place set up for her and chicks to at least stay for 3-7 days. If she is a lower ranking hen then she/they may get picked on and she would not protect the chicks as well as a high ranking hen. If that is the case I would leave them seperated till the chicks are older.

I have chicks that are 2-3 weeks old and their all starting to feather out. Today I noticed two of the chicks have red colored combs and small red wattles. They both were suppose to be pullets but we all know how that goes. I know you can't be sure on the gender till later on but could this be a sign that they could be roosters? All of the other chicks combs and wattles are orange.

I'm so freaking mad right now. I went to the feed store today. Spent $130 on feed and my bill from last week. Get home and apparently my dad and his crazy-a$$ driving has lost a 100# bag of feed for me. He went back to look for it but since the feed store is 25 miles away and we have no idea where it fell off, he didn't find it. Thanks dad...now I get to charge a bag if they'll let me and hope I have enough from selling tomorrow to pay for it and next week's feed.

Lady Chickadee: I agree with Shelley... I had 2 that looked like that at 3 weeks old (I hatched em in March).

Shelley: Awww man that really stinks! Hope you make enough off your sells tomorrow.

She is a lower ranked hen, so I think we will build a small coop for her after the chicks are born. I can divide my run in half.

Thats a good idea. I've got an old rabbit hutch where we cut the legs off, took the top off then turned it upside down, took the wire off one of the ends add 2 nails then hooked a large plastic pet carrier with bedding to that end... makes a nice lil chickie tractor or a safe place for a momma hen & her chicks. I've got 4 3 1/2 week olds in it right now

Ugh, I feel your pain! Is Dad going to buy you a bag of feed?

Of course not. It wasn't his fault or so he thinks. He blames it on the bumpy road and the guy that loaded it not the piece of crap truck and the driver who doesn't know how.

I was just wondering if anyone in or near Hart Co would have any light or buff brahma pullets for sale. Would prefer ones at least 4-6 weeks old or older.

Thanks
