Kentucky people

I have too many ameraucana chicks that I would love to sell for 2.00 each they are 3 weeks old I have no ideal what gender they are. We hatched them out and I have 2 incubators going right now my brinsea has 12 brown leghorn and 11 new hampshire reds and my lyons has 13 white rock and 3 barred rocks in it but I am suppose to have them sold when they hatch.

Hey Yolonda,
The doc. says I will never run or do any high impact sports again even if I opt for cartilage replacement.

It looks like I have to accept that I am a worn out old man.

At least I can still garden. I am thankful for that.

Welcome ChickieWhickie!

Tom,

I'm sorry that you won't be able to continue some of the things you enjoy. At least the chickens are mostly low impact fun. Although those 50 pound feed bags are alot heavier each year.

Man! The BYC forum is busy! I guess that to keep up with all the new posts I'll have to visit more often!

Yolonda,
Yes, I met you at the Shelbyville show, you were very helpful and kind. Sometimes it is unnerving to jump into a new hobby, especally if it feels like everyone knows whats going on except you. You were also the reason I visited BYC in the first place. I had heard of it before, but didn't have any incentive to visit untill you told me a lot of locals were on the forum. I love going to the state fair, but I don't know if I will show. My birds are only 7-8 wks old, will they be in full adult plumage? I really want to get into showing, but I don't even know if my birds are worth anything. I guess I need a mentor to help straighten me out.

Chickabator,
Where did you get your chicks, and what colors do you have?

Turtleblossom,

Thanks for the kind words. I've met several wonderful people from this website, and gotten to know some others even better. Everyone here is so helpful. And there is a wealth of information. Remember if there is a topic you want to keep up with, you can subscribe at the bottom of the page and it will send an email when there is a new post. And you won't get another one until you visit the site again.

Your chicks may be too young to enter in August, but please come by anyway. And I completely understand about being in over your head. I still am. And last year at the fair was so overwhelming for me. And while I was standing there in despair, one of the members of the Kentuckiana club came to my rescue. She helped me through the whole ordeal. And I ended up joining. There is a website for the club.

See you soon!

Hi everyone,

I am in Berea, KY and am looking to purchase 3 baby chicks for egg laying purposes only. Any suggestions? Anyone know of a place near here that I can purchase my chicks from?

Thanks so much

Hi all I live in Somerset, Ky and am a newbie at the chickie thing but am enjoying every minute of it and taking in all the advice I can get and utilizing it. Thank you to everyone that has responded to my questions.

Ohh okay...Bet you'll miss your babies but not too far from Somerset though maybe 30min? Hope you enjoy living here. You can come over and hold and pet ours if you miss yours to bad... We've got a good variety going.

Hi Everyone. I am from the Northern Ky area and totally new to chickens.

I had been reading alot before I got my first chicken, a rooster named Hoss, and one week ago today I went up to Mt Healthy Hatchery with the intention of getting 12 Araucanas. Once there I was told I could get a mix and match if I didn't mind taking a few of this and a few of that.

I ended up with 21 pullets.

I have Black Australorps, Silver and Golden Laced Wyandottes, Buff Orpingtons, Silver Brahmas, Barred Rocks and of course the Araucanas I went up there for.

I was glad to find this forum, I hope to learn alot more about my newest obscession.

I have 2 horses, 2 dogs and 3 cats in addition to the chickens and we all live on 11 1/2 acres. My next acquisition will be a Boer goat.
