If the swap meet is across the street from the flea market in shepherdsville then yes I have been. We stopped by a few months ago after checking out the flea market and wasn't impressed. Just a few people selling adult chickens and guineas. I was looking for guinea keets at the time. I know these type swaps just depend on who shows up that week. May be great now, just haven't been back.

It is accross from the flea market. I have been a few times this summer. It does depend on who shows up and what time you get there. I took chicks, young roos, layers and bunnies each time. I always did good not much to bring home. It is very busy early from first light till around 9 then seemed to slow down. I usualy left no later than noon. If you want variety you have to get there early!

Yes, that's what I've heard from a seller's standpoint. I was told if I do decide to go there I have to be ready to sell by first light. Does it go during the winter or only in the warmer months?

It is year round rain or shine. The set up fee is $10. I wish set up was less because I have about an hour drive, but there is nothing closer for me unless I want to take them to the auction in Horse Cave. I don't make much at the auction and only take things in that I really need to get rid of when I don't have enough to bother with the trip to Shepherdsville.
I don't normaly post on here when I am going up because all my birds free range 24/7, roost in the barn rafters and I never know who and how many I will catch Fri night (depends how high they go in the rafters) and if I don't get enough I end up waiting and trying again the next week.

I'm in the Cerulean area. I started my flock with 5 grown Rhode Island Red hens this April. I now have 17 chickens, 5 guineas, and 3 turkeys. I just recently moved to my family farm. I used to live in Hopkinsville and hated every minute of it. I built the house that my wife and I currently live in as a weekend get away. We came down here on Halloween 2010 because our dogs don't like the trick or treaters knocking on the doors. We stayed through Thanksgiving and Christmas and on New Years my wife said that she wanted to stay so we changed our address and never went back to town. When we got our chickens in April I told my wife that it felt like I was finally doing something. I felt like a farmer. I love that feeling. Just last week I lost my job so I guess farming is what I will do. I even had a garden this year and it was a success. I didn't think I could grow anything. In the words of Oliver Wendell Douglas..."Farm livin' is the life for me". I also found a home on this forum. I love this place! Creed
