Khaki Campbell Laying Eggs In Nest, Won’t Sit

YOU GUYS.... WE HAVE A BROODY DUCK. She won’t leave her eggs. There are about 20+ eggs under her... and she made the nest more comfortable with straw and shavings and now officially won’t leave the nest for anything. I AM SO HAPPY.

This is fantastic! I hope she makes a good mama. Is the nest in a safe spot? Now's the time to think about if you need to build any sort of divider to keep her and her ducklings safe from the rest of the flock.

Here she is in the nest (Right corner). It’s inside the coop. Safe from predators, etc.

Looks pretty good. I was thinking more about the others (ducks/chickens/etc.) in the flock that aren't always keen on having ducklings around. You just might need to plan a way of keeping them separate when hatching time comes around until you are sure everyone will play nice. Also have a brooder backup plan if mama decides not to take care of them (hopefully this isn't the case). You've got a few weeks to figure it all out. This is very exciting! I can't wait to see the little quackers!

Mama Duck is so committed to her eggs, she doesn’t want to get up AT ALL. I have been having to put food and water near her and even then that’s too far. She will not budge. Any experience? I feel like I need to encourage her to move a little each day but she won’t. TIPS PLEASE.
