Kids and weird eating habits

Well, they are old enough to make their OWN sandwiches.

I remember reading that it takes an average of five trials (separate occurrances, not bites) for a kid to like a new food that he/she has not had before.

I know I don't complain about that they love broccoli spinach carrots and corn. I just putt a veggie tray out with our lunch and I am always pleased to se them eating it. I just wish they were not so picky about the meat they will eat.

i would never ever make somethign special cuz they don't want to eat what i made. i do remember my mom making these awful green beans one time. they had some kidn of sauce and smelled awful. I would NOT eat them lol.

ChickNDuck that's sorta how my SIL started... nowadays hers refuse to eat her meal and demand a whole separate meal be prepared for them. They got the attitude from their dad, he does the same kind of crud, but had she been a little more firm when they were small I think it could have made a difference.

Of course this is also the SIL who just was FLOORED when my son stayed the night and in the morning he rinsed out his cereal bowl before putting it in the sink. She was SHOCKED. Her boys would never do such a thing... mainly again, because dad refuses to do even something that simple.

Those boys are in for a very rude awakening when they go off to college I think.

For Christmas I got her youngest/her the Dr Seuss Cookbook... pretty cool, has recipes for Seuss food but it uses regular ingredients... youngest boy really wanted an easy bake oven but dad put his foot down because that's too 'sissy' for his sons... figured maybe this would be okay... I'm hoping. Maybe if he gets to help with preparation he'll be willing to try more things? Eh, it's a theory.

My brother will not eat steak of any kind. No meat loaf, fried chicken, mac and cheese, green beans, beans in general, no ribs, corn bread, greens of any kind, rice, will not drink water (bottled or tap), and nothing homemade. It has to come from the store where its "safe". Oh and his burgers have to be plain with very finely minced onions and alot of katsup and mustard. He lives off of toast, chicken patties, and soda. And mustard sandwiches.

How can he live in Arkansas and not like beans and cornbread?!?

Oh...she ate it.

I just wondered what other weird things your kids liked or didnt like.

Anyone else have kids that adore something one day and then nearly gag over it the next? That one kills me lol

Ya my kids rinse and put dishes in dishwasher and unload it. They even help me fold laundy and vaccum. I would Never make them something different but they can make the sandwich themselves. I am not to soft. We are acctually pretty strict.
