Kids, our newest predator

Also, call Social Services. I have a feeling they know about these kids and maybe something can be done if the parents aren't willing to do anything. Shame on them/her. Press charges and while you are at it sue for damages and personal injury. You were mentally damaged by what those kids have done in the past few months. Ok, you don't have to go that far but make it look as if you are.

As for the parents. I would make it very clear that you will hold them liable if anything else happens to you and/or your property including animals. I would not stand for any of that. I would even bring that baby duck over to the house and show the mother what her kids did and tell them there was a wittness and you are capable of pressing charges. Don't be afraid of these people.

Check your ordinances about livestock too. Just to be on the safe side. This way you know where you stand. There are laws about animal cruelty. Don't think about it..... DO IT.

Perhaps you can call the news media, too, if no one plans to do anything about it.

Also, try to get witnesses or some kind of proof if you don't have them all in a row right now. If you think they're still coming around, try putting a hidden camera up when you leave.

i agree with all that has been said, and i would suggest going to ur local library or government building and getting copies of the animal ordinances. you have the right to protect ur livestock. Anybody who messes with my animals is gonna find a load of lead in there butt

At first i thought, yeah call the cops..But they would likey not do much, if anything. I think Desertdarlene is right, call the Humane Society..
They will probabley do more than your local cops would. Still, its a good idea to have a copy of the police report if needed for future reference..
So sorry for your loss, those litte turds should get a really good butt beating, the old fashion way..!

Call the cops AND the humane society AND child protective services....cover all the bases.

But... what is Child Protective Services going to do? I hope this is not suggested as some kind of revenge upon the mother. I think the police would be a better resort.

sonew123, if you hurt somebody's kid, I think the police would be at YOUR door and rightfully so. You'd have alot more to worry about than your animals. Yes, those kids should never, ever have been on the OP's property and never, ever hurting any animal anywhere, but what makes it so ok and justified to harm a child while we get so emotional about someone harming a pet? It's illegal and not the wisest move to make, no matter how angry you are.

My first reaction would've been to confront the mother, and to kindly tell her to keep her children off my property and away from my animals! I would've been furious too. It's a really awful thing, what happened to the duck.

You should file a police report anyway, because if - hopefully not, but if - anything like that were to happen again, you would want a paper trail to bring to court and say, "Look, this has been going on these past x months and I'm taking legal action now because I've suffered so much distress and damages."

Good luck... I really hope those kids stay away from now on.

Calling CPS is because those kids are showing some VERY serious symptoms, of a very serious mental disorder.
Which can be caused from a very screwed up household and child abuse. (not always though...)
When a child wants to kill/hurt living things.. there is a BIG problem somewhere.... and the VERY first place to look is in the childs household.
Something is not right somewhere.... its common sense to do a welfare check-up on those children.
