Oh and a slight twist for y'all.... In our household, we kinda have a sizable "roll reversal" as I'm thee go-to person for laundry, groceries & meals.... And before covid-19-mare I was also thee chauffeur for school & sports. Been the "stay at home Dad" since the knee surgery as I think I've admitted before?

So, I have realized that I have a particular way I like things done too. I have tempered it with this caviot for the kiddos. After all I'm game to learn something new as 'my way' isn't the only way to get "x" done effectively. They know I admit to being human and I own my mistakes.

Dishwasher example (how I explained it to them):
Yes we have a disposer in the sink but, *that* is the compost bin. When it's getting close to full go dump it, then rinse it out to the disposal. Then load the dishwasher how I've shown ya. It's the best I have found so far with this machine. If after your doing it this way with all the stuff getting clean on a regular basis and you think of a different, possible better way - I'm all ears. Just do it this way first. It's a culmination of what I'd learned from parents, grand parents, and the kitchen jobs I've had when younger.

The girls are starting to "get it" the boys (20+ y/o's) never "got it" and it's getting easier.
I've tried to teach people how to load my dishwasher correctly but it never sticks. I always have to double-check and rearrange it if they actual remembered to put their dishes in the dishwasher.

I'm a little anal / OCD about dishwasher too.

I don't. I am not going to roast a turkey with all the fixings for just one person. If I was to make stuffing for a bird, I would use the same recipe that I use when I make individual size stuffed meatloaf.

Stuffed Meatloaf

Stuffing
10 slices white bread
1/4 cup butter or oleo
2 eggs
1/2 med. onion (diced)
1 rib celery (diced)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper (ground)

The night before making the stuffing, lay out the bread slices on a large cookie sheet with some overlapping of the slices. Leave out overnight to dry the bread. Leave two of the bread slices for the meat mixture. Cut the remaining bread slices into approximately 1/2" squares. Place bread cubes into a large mixing bowl. Melt butter in a frying pan. Add diced onion and diced celery. Sauté until onions are translucent. Mix eggs well and pour over bread cubes. Mix well. Pour sautéed butter, celery and onion mixture over bread cubes. Sprinkle on salt and pepper. Mix well. Form stuffing mixture into small elongated ovals (approximately 3" long by 1 1/4" in diameter). Should make seven portions.

Meatloaf

1 1⁄2 lbs. ground beef
2 slices bread (cubed)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper (ground)
1/2 cup milk*
2 eggs
1/2 med. onion (diced)
ketchup
bacon slices

Using your hands mix ground beef, bread cubes, egg, salt, pepper, milk and diced onion in a large bowl.
After thoroughly mixed, form a layer around the shaped stuffing and place on canning rack in an oven proof pan. Spread a thick layer of ketchup on top. Add a piece of bacon on top. Cover pan with lid.
Bake at 350°F for 1 hour covered. Remove lid and bake another 20 minutes.

Notes:

Cook down drippings and make gravy. Serve with mashed potatoes and gravy.

*Can substitute water or tomato juice for the milk. I prefer it made with tomato juice.
Instead of using ketchup have you ever tried using cocktail sauce on your meatloaf?
