In addition to the threat of drowning, flooding forces people out during the height of the storm and exposure gets them. If people get trapped inside during a flood, they can't always get out, safely. That's why an emergency kit should always have tools in it, including a hatchet/ax. Imagine being trapped in your attic with no way to break a hole in the ceiling as the water rises ...
You SURE you want to stay, @Kiki?
Yes. I am 100% sure I'm ok with staying.
There is no way in the world we'd even be able to get in out attic.
I am sure I am not worried about anything more then losing power.

The important thing would be not to open the freezers so they will hold the cool for at least 24 hours.
And make sure you have essentials and a few extras (like something for the grill when the storm first settles down) out in a cooler. That lets you leave the big boxes closed as long as possible. Some of the best meals we've ever had were immediately post-hurricane. When I was a kid, the entire neighborhood had a huge BBQ about three days after Agnes. No one was going anywhere (couldn't ... blocked roads) and all the power was out. We were little enough to call it "fun." Our parents? Not so much!

but at the same time don’t make @Kiki any more panicked than she already is.....let’s put this in perspective and 2020 has been the epitomy of OVERREACTION and way blowing things out of proportion (especially by the media!)
Yeah ... besides, the very thought of our Kiki with an ax is ... ummm .. a bit disturbing ... :hmm

I am not worried about my fence getting blown down.
I am not worried about flooding.

I am only worried about losing power.
Mex just informed me one generator I can plug in two things.

The other generator I can plug in 6.
3 slots are taken for the 2 fridges and 1 freezer.

The mini has a real ax hanging on his bedroom wall.

Just saw someone holding on to a truck's window on a skateboard while it was moving
:th

Stupid teenagers
(I say that as though I wasn't one myself)
Wait a few hours and watch the fools try it on a water ski! Idjits! .... but it does sound even the teensiest bit ,,, fun?! We used to hold onto bumpers wearing roller skates ... See? Sometimes "Dumb Luck" outweighs "Stupid!"
