Kiki's Saturday sweat it out party

I find it fascinating that my Jaws quote from last night was deleted with no explanation whatsoever. Is there an avid shark hater on this thread?

I consider myself to be a good BYC citizen & I always play by @Nifty-Chicken rules, including the PG rating judgement guide.

As a parent who tries to teach my children the difference between right & wrong, I would like to know what offense I’ve been accused of simply by quoting a PG rated movie, especially within the context of others in the thread discussing said movie.

I would have posted this privately to a moderator, however it seems that I don’t have the ability to do so. There is no link to reply to, no indication of who moderated it, & no reason for the deletion. I’m baffled.

Please know that I’m not trying to be a jerk, that’s not my style, but from where I’m standing this was an unjust deletion. Would you be baffled if you got a speeding ticket for doing 35mph in a 35mph zone?
Thank you for your thoughts (and for @Kiki pointing me to this).

Yes, in general PLEASE make sure that you (and everyone) that has questions about how we moderate the forum to direct those questions to the moderator that took action.

In this case, we noticed that the "send with moderator name" checkbox was NOT selected on some of the moderator actions. That being the case, we appreciate that this is frustrating, and we're working to resolve this and make sure that in the future, there is always a moderator behind the actions taken.

We've received reports on a bunch of posts on this thread with thoughts that the posts contained innuendo. Our team reviews the posts and make a judgement.

... of course, when it comes to interpreting text, innuendo, etc., there is a LOT of subjectivity and opportunity for misinterpretation. Our moderators are AMAZING, but clearly none of us are perfect all the time... we just try to do the best we can.

So, we're all learning from this experience and VERY MUCH appreciate those that patiently work with us, knowing how hard our jobs are.

To Sum Up (this isn't directed to one member... it applies to all):
  1. Make sure all posts are very family friendly.
  2. If you see a friend posting something that is inappropriate, it would be good to message them and suggest they edit the post. That saves them from being reported, their post getting deleted, and if it's a rampant problem in a thread... saves the thread from getting closed and/or removed.
  3. Our team will continue to work hard on understanding the context of the post / thread when reviewing reported items
  4. Our team will make sure we have a moderator name associated with the deleted post / moderated item
  5. If a member has questions or issues about why their item was removed / moderated, they should PRIVATELY reply to the moderator, or a different moderator with a respectful and curious tone and ask for more details on what it was about the post that caused it to be moderated.
Hopefully through this process we can ensure that the community demeanor / tone is maintained, our moderators are getting proper feedback and improving, and our members can have more understanding and comfort regarding the moderators processes and thinking.

Hopefully that clarifies a few things :)

Thanks to all those that understand the challenges associated with moderating a huge community with diverse people and tons of reports!

I don’t think so, I just had an itch lol the shoe scraped it. Unless you mean the thing on my arm? In which case I’m pretty sure that’s from the Fitbit šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£

But yes I am constantly plagued by mosquitoes! Lol I can be out for 2 seconds and one will find me šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£
Nope your leggy dang mosquitos

It wants a piece of everybody. I just remembered I had a decorative mushroom that you put into a plant pot in a vase on my coffee table and it flew out (it had a stake thing so it had to come up and out) at me. The vase didn’t move a lick. I was 5 ft away putting on jammie pants. My sister lives there now and was having problems when her daughter turned 3. Door slamming and stuff.
OMG!!!! You need an exorcist :lau

Oh and I made spicy tuna earlier. With sweet relish in it šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ™ˆ
