I'm currently keeping a "dirty little secret" from my family, too. I ordered six bantam EE's online, last week.
I wasn't gonna. Honest, I wasn't! It's just that I've always wanted EE's,
... and I only have room for bantams, so standard EE's are not an option,
... and I can mix bantams in with my Nankins, because I can easily tell the eggs apart,
... and no one EVER has bantam EE's anymore, so it's usually safe to go looking,
... and Meyer did NOT have them, last week when I Windows-shopped.
... but, But, BUT - when I looked again last week, there were six available for July 20
Six - exactly the number I would need in order to (hopefully) get my three pullets.
Six - not too many for the coop, but enough to justify the small-order fee.
Six - cute little babies coming to MY BROODER, this Tuesday/Wednesday
...the brooder that will be EMPTY on Sunday afternoon, when the month-old Nankin babies get picked up.

I'm afraid to tell my children ...
