If I ever get a crop of apricots, I will get a dehydrator.

Back in '71, there was a small orchard where I lived. One particular tree produced apples about 3 times the size of small crabapples. They were very sweet. I peeled, cored and sliced them. I then hung them in the basement on a string. Those were the best homemade chips that I have ever had.

One of the best investments I've made was my bigger dehydrator. You name it I make it.
Fruit and veggie chips, fruit leathers, tomato leathers...which is surprisingly good to chew on, as well as drying every fruit and veggie under the sun. Of course herbs and seasonings too.

Often I will make a super dried thin tomato brittle and then crush it up and use it like an herb. It's really good mixed into homemade cheeses or sprinkled over casseroles.
I need to try making my own sweet potato chips if I can get a good crop of them here.
