Kiki's White Trash and or Nerdy Birthday Bash Funeral

that’s kinda my fear....should’ve gotten them going way earlier but figured maybe we can just pick them smaller??
Pumpkins don't work like that for me. They still need the time to turn ripe. Other than as poultry food, I don't know a use for green pumpkins.

i pulled first jar of pickled cucumbers and jalapeños out of the walk-in yesterday for a taste test! didn’t get to them last night so maybe try with breakfast this morning!
We made 12 jars of Bread and Butter Pickled Cukes just the other day! Crispy and Scrumptious!

I quit growing zucchini a long time ago. Even limiting the zucchini to one hill, I still ended up having to give away at least a bushel at a time.

I switched to Nadia eggplant. When breaded and fried, I can't taste the difference between it and fried zucchini. Black Beauty eggplant is a different story including the texture.
I tried eggplant this year (first time at this place) and within 48 hours of planting, my little babies got gobbled up by some bug that ignored every other thing in the garden. Sheesh.
How is Nadia different than Black Beauty?

Yellow zucchini tends to get picked better here because I can find them before they turn into monsters, but I will always still plant both yellow zukes (not yellow crook necks...don't like those) and green zukes because freezing or drying, and feeding extras to supplement the chickens, is always on the menu.
BTW, your cherry and chokecherry jams look fabulous!

Maybe she got behind with her car payments to her father.
Car Payments to her Father!?!?!

When I left my parents house the summer after high school graduation my Mom hugged me, my Dad gave me his Army Duffel Bag and a Crisp Clean $50 Bill.

I told Dad I'd pay him back with my first paycheck. He said it wasn't a loan, it was a gift. And then he said; NEVER make loans to the ones you love. NEVER.

I held his hand when he died, that was nearly 20 years ago. :love

Dad said a lot of good Shit! :thumbsup

i cleaned out the onion bed last weekend and planning to ditch the strawberries as soon as weather permits so I can get pumpkins and turnips going.
When I lived up north I've started them as late as mid July, but those were 90 day varieties...not 110 or 120.
Here mine are turning orange already! Dreams of pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin waffles, pumpkin bread, and pumpkin chili have begun dancing in my head.
