Kiki's White Trash and or Nerdy Birthday Bash Funeral

Yep, it's a sad sad world for a lot of poultry now days.
Chickens don't want to be in strollers or on leashes.
They don't want to be dressed up or bows in their feathers.
They don't want to live indoors and wear diapers.
They don't want to wear choker straps.
They don't want to got to Wal-Mart or trick or treating.
They don't want the man spying on them with cameras.
Etc. etc.
They're just a buncha chickens to be that way!
In my defense, though. My Nankins walk on leashes because they are part of a breed conservation program. Pre-Covid, I often traveled to schools, 4H clubs and other youth groups to do presentations on what it means to conserve a breed and why it's important. As members of a critically endangered chicken breed, my birds go right into the classroom with me. Nankins are VERY good flyers and the Ag classrooms are open, so that leash is important ... unless we want to play "Catch The Chicken."

And as far as them being stressed over the leash (a simple body harness with a short catch-cord, like a hawk's jesses,) I think it's a safe bet to say that my birds are okay with it. Once it's on, they pay no attention to it at all. They preen and dance and flirt and chatter with anyone who holds out a hand. It's pretty cool, especially when it's one of my showier roosters! I especially like to take along The Boys. They tend to be the most social of my birds, so the friendly interaction goes a long way to dispel the "Mean Vicious Cockfighting Rooster-Birds" stereotype. My ambassador roosters aren't mean at all. They're food-mooching clowns who purr when you massage the backs of their necks.

As a direct result of my boys' ambassador efforts, we've placed breeding pairs with several committed young Ag students. Because The Boys flirted and snuggled on their leashes, there are now at least 35 more Nankins in the world, and quite a few people who now understand why it's important to conserve our Heritage Breeds.

So ... if I DO build a kennel stroller, it most likely won't be for my chickens. It'll be for my ancient little pooch who is finding it harder and harder to keep up with Crazy Dog on outings, but can't bear to be left behind. Of course, if I DO build it, I'll have to take at least ONE picture with s chicken in it. After all, I still have a reputation to maintain ... Crazy Chicken People are like that, y'know! :D

Ya mean ... like this?
